Registration black is generally used for printing crop marks etc. The onscreen black is a single black ink used at the printing stage (one of four inks: CMYK). Even though it doesn't look as black, it's still black. But you could consider using a "Rich Black", which is a mix of all four CMYK...
Glad to be of service :)

I don't want to trivialise the problem, but is perhaps the tab pallet "minimized"? On PC, the floating pallet will have two small icons top-right: "Minimize/Maximize" and "Close". If minimized, the pallet will appear as nothing but the title bar and the "Tab" tab. Maximized, and it will show the...
Mark, you didn't get a diagonal? Hmmm. Maybe I've done something wrong. I placed an image into a box, feathered it, scissored the bottom-left to top-right corners and removed the feather from half of it. This is what I got.

You can create a master text box in the position and size you want it, running along the bottom of the master pages. Return to your first page and "Place" the text from your text file. Then rearrange spacing if it needs it.

IMAGE > IMAGE SIZE > enter the correct dpi in "Resolution". But does it have to be a JPG? If you're preserving quality, try it as a TIFF or EPS file.

When you use the scissors tool in that way, though, it adds a line between each diagonal point and feathers that line, too. So in a square image, once scissored, you get a feathered triangle... But I can't think of another way...

Or after starting page 2 as "Page 1", you can reset the master for page 1 by dragging "None" onto it from the pages palette.

Thanks, Blueark. We're going Litho on this one, but I've converted to CMYK for now. If my boss throws any more money at me later, we'll probably go back to adding in the spots. Thanks.

Zesource, do you mean your client wants the first few page NUMBERS hidden, or pages? I suspect you mean page numbers. If so, create two master pages (A-Master and B-Master) and add the page-number text box (like jcape shows you above) to one of the masters only, then apply the "blank" master to...
Thanks Jim, I'll ask the printer. I've converted to plain old CMYK process for now.

Thanks JM. That's what I suspected. Luckily, two of the three spots I was planning on using can convert to CMYK successfully. Now I'll just have to find a close match for the other. Thanks

Okay, probably a silly question, but... um... If I've budgeted for a four-colour document, can I use four separate Pantone colours, or do I have to stick to CMYK? :-)

I think Jim and Eggles are right -- you're probably trying to "Open" the EPS file. Instead, go to FILE > PLACE... and insert the EPS file that way.

The whole purpose of bleeds, as you have correctly guested, is to allow for printing (graphics, colours, etc), to extend to the edge of the page. The way it works is this: If you're printing an A4 document (or letter-size, in the State, which is *roughly* the A4 equivalent), you create your A4...
Hey all. I've created a doc in IDCS (Win) that requires some cutting at the printer. I've put all the cut and score lines in an additional layer, but I'm having difficulty understanding the print process -- the printer wants a PDF as well as a packaged ID file (which is fine). Should I turn off...
All I have on mine (PS7) is the filename, zoom-percentage, and "(CMYK)" in brackets. I can't see any numbers...

A proper printer, if you were to go down that route, will be able to take your PDF file and chop it in that way, so that P1 is beside P120, etc. I'm afraid I don't have a solution from within InDesign, but would like to hear one is someone else does. You can send something out to print from a...
You can create a separate text box to stretch across the whole page and drop your footnotes in there...?
