I am having an issue getting the resource graph to update when we are updating actual / remaining work columns. There is a fair amount of formatting in the schedule, basically using constraints and not predecessors. But when the remaining work goes down, I would imagine that the needed resources...
Anyone out there know if there is a way to highlight a window of time in the Gantt Chart? I would like to have all tasks showing and the entire Gantt chart, but have a highlighted portion for a 3 week look ahead. Is this possible with Microsoft Project 2007?
This is in project 2003, BUT, I have both 2007 and 2003. This has caused issues before (changing back and forth between versions), but others are having the same problem and are only running 2003.
Existing Prep 1.54 days 0% 6/2/2008 8:00 6/5/2008 8:53

You have more than likely had to make your decision already. The decision to use Microsoft or Primavera is a difficult one. It would somewhat depend on the amount of time and effort you are going to put into your schedules. Microsoft project is very easy to use if you are used to the Microsoft...
I am having a problem getting accurate durations to display in Microsoft Project 2003.
Basically what I have is a bunch of tasks that need to be completed in succession. (It is checkout of many instruments). The average time to check these out is 15 minutes an instrument. (I have added two...
OK, none of the above seemed to be what was going on. BUT...I talked to Microsoft support. Not a whole lot of help there. We tried to export to an XML file, and then re-import the data. This did not work.(created a 128MB file) What we ended up doing was opening the file in Project 2007 and...
Wondering if anyone out there can help. I have two schedules in project. both with about 3000 tasks and very similar logic. Both are saved on project server 2003. There has been some issues with moving to Project 2007 and then saving back to 2003, but one of the files is about 4MB and the other...
Project 20003 - when one person opens a schedule, and goes to the resource usage view, the summary task is displayed in seconds. (one person has 15,000,000 seconds worth of work.) When I go into the schedule I see the values displayed correctly. No matter where we look we have not been able to...
We have recently received licenses for Microsoft Project 2007. We are currently using Project 2003 with Project Server 2003. My question is, will there be any issues with running Project 2007 on our PC's and Project Server 2003 on the server? Has anyone tried this?
Tools / Options --- Calculation Tab. THere are three checkboxes, one of those should get you what you want. You will also need to enter a status date in the Project Information box.
I would check that resources work calendar to see that they have a 6.5 or 8 hour work day. They could be over allocated if they are set on a work day with less hours
I believe that you can also right click on the top of a column and select "Insert Column". Then you would insert the "Task Calendar". If your calendars are set up correctly, this should allow you to select the calendar that you are looking for......
Ok I am not sure what you are trying to gain. I know that there is a way to take out the links, and change whatever is in the current email, but we did not. We basically added to the existing message.
In Project Web Access (you have to have Admin rights) click on admin - then "Customize...
We are currently using Project Server, and so far feel that it is great. We used to store project files in a job folder, on one or two internal networks, now they are all in one place. Also the email notifications are great. You can change them (I know that much, not exactly sure how, but I know...
Could this not be as simple as the equipment needing to be a "material resource" and not a "work" resource? If you add the column "resource type" you should be able to change the equipment to "material" instead of "work". Not sure though.
If you have the Ghant chart open on your screen. Then you should have a "print screen" button on your keyboards somewhere. Hit that. Next Open up a window of Paint (this should be in your programs menu, under accessories). Once that is open, right click on your mouse. And select paste. This...
I think that this would be possible. First of all we use an excel file for estimating purposes. This gives us the estimated hours for each task on a summary page. These values are then imported into project, for this they are dropped into our project template. Within the template have the...
I am not sure if this will work but here goes. Under the tools menu there should be a change working time. Then you can create a new calendar. Set the times that you need for that one task to be worked over time.
Secondly right click on a column header within your project tasks. Insert a new...
