Figured it out in the end. You can't specify it as a path, I had to rename the server the same as the old one and then chose the restore to original location.
OK, I've figured out the issue but it has now thrown up another problem. The issue was down to the fact the Restore session screen automatically creates a filter to show only the last 14 days sessions and because these tapes were from last month the detail was not available until I modified the...
I have created an isolated environment to test server recovery in the event of a disaster, which basically consists of a DC and a Brghtstor server. I am trying to merge tapes from the live environment into the test one at the moment. The merge job runs and completes successfully but when I try...
In the console go to help then About CA Arcserve backup. When the dialogue box opens click Add/View Licenses. Check that the CA ARCserver r12 for Windows Tape Library Option is listed as licensed.
We upgraded our backup servers to Arcserve R12 a month ago and the other day I upgraded the client agents on all our servers. I have re-submitted the backups and re-selected the use client agent option. Since then we have a bit of a weird thing happening. If the full selection is chosen (the...
If you uncheck the 'Enable Media Pool Maintenance' the DB pruning will not get rid of the pool details. The checkbox can be found in the Server Admin, under 'Admin', 'Configuration'
Embarasingly this was down to tape compatibillity. SDLT 320s don't work with MSL6000's. They become read only and with the read only filter on (brightstor standard) makes the tapes invisible in the format window. We have replaced our tapes with SDLT2's. This has solved the issue.
This is down to your pruning job. The prune it purging the catalogue to keep it at a reasonable size. Stick the tape you want to restore from in and run a merge, this will merge the tapes catalogue with the databases catalogue.
I think this may be the issue. The tape drives are fine but the changer is installed as "Unknown Medium Changer" I've installed the latest drivers from HP with no avail. Time to phone HP support. Cheers anyway.
I have ran an inventory on the library and can see all media both blank and used. It's only when I try to erase or format the problem appears. The selection window is blank.
Any other ideas?
Just bought a new server and Autoloader (HP MSL6026) Installed the loader and the device is visible in Brightstor. I can see the tape drives below the Autoloader and can also see the media in the loader. When I right click a tape and choose either Erase or Format the Dialogue box opens to select...
You will Definately need 11.5 Client Lic's to go with your 11.5 Engine. There is an upgrade option for 11.1 clients to 11.5 but there is a cost involved.
The Activity log is a flat file stored on the system drive and is not part of the database. It's called Brightstor.log and is usually in the CA\Brightstor Arcserve Backup\log directory. If you have backed it up to tape you could always restore it.
The report writer allows custom reports on single servers but I want a report to run which gathers custom info on all our backup servers and gives us an enterprise summary. I've looked into the CMD line version of the reports and it allows custom reports to be appended to a csv file. With a bit...
The first error is usually down to a file that has been deleted in the backup selections. Because Arcserve snapshots the drive contents at job creation, it doesn't update the selections when things are deleted. This isn't an issue if you back up the entire drive but if you selectivly backup...
