I am getting an error when i am carrying out incremental backups on the
network. I am using arcserve v9 and windows 2000 server.

The back has been running fine for months but i have noticed that the
incremental backups are being marked as failed. The full normal backup
that runs on a friday goes through and works fine.

I am backing up 4 servers across the network and i have noticed the
following two strange errors have started to appear in the logs:

E3322
Unexpected return from find first file. Unable to backup files after
(FILE=\\NEWMINDDC\C$\Program
Files\Microsoft.NET\FrameworkSDK\Samples\Tutorials\PlatformIntroduction\CompTest\CompVB\*.*,
EC=NETNAME DELETED)

Unable to save the registry key. (KEY=software, EC=NO SYSTEM RESOURCES)
W3404

Has anyone any tips on how to solve this? Thanks

The first error is usually down to a file that has been deleted in the backup selections. Because Arcserve snapshots the drive contents at job creation, it doesn't update the selections when things are deleted. This isn't an issue if you back up the entire drive but if you selectivly backup items below the root it becomes a problem. The work around is to deselect all choices in the drive the faulting files are on collapse the drive, click on another drive (to clear the perview window on the right) then expand it and re-select all required files.

Thanks Sabb

I've tried out the first point. The files are already there. I have also tried to deselect the files concerned from the backup job and the jobs are still being marked as failed.

I will have a look at the service pack. I know my colleagues had previously tried to update arcserve and they had some major problems. I speak to them and see what they think as i need to clear up this error though.

It seems really strange to me that the job would suddenly start being marked as failed.

Everyone, Thanks for your help on this matter.
