Just bought a new server and Autoloader (HP MSL6026) Installed the loader and the device is visible in Brightstor. I can see the tape drives below the Autoloader and can also see the media in the loader. When I right click a tape and choose either Erase or Format the Dialogue box opens to select which tapes but the selection window is empty.

Loader, tape drives and SCSI card are all now on the latest firmware.

Any ideas?

inventory the library first and uncheck the option (if available) to hide blank media.

I have ran an inventory on the library and can see all media both blank and used. It's only when I try to erase or format the problem appears. The selection window is blank.

Any other ideas?

Check you have the OS level drivers for the tape drives and medium changer disabled.

I think this may be the issue. The tape drives are fine but the changer is installed as "Unknown Medium Changer" I've installed the latest drivers from HP with no avail. Time to phone HP support. Cheers anyway.

In control panel you have to right click and disable the resource, then Arcserve can see it

Embarasingly this was down to tape compatibillity. SDLT 320s don't work with MSL6000's. They become read only and with the read only filter on (brightstor standard) makes the tapes invisible in the format window. We have replaced our tapes with SDLT2's. This has solved the issue.
