Hi all,

is it possible to recover the activity log of a Brightstor 9 installation with the VLDB? Is it part of the database or is this separated someewhere in the directory? We've got auditors asking for logs that I can't provide and I hope I can get them back using an older monthly backup.

Many thanks
Richard

The Activity log is a flat file stored on the system drive and is not part of the database. It's called Brightstor.log and is usually in the CA\Brightstor Arcserve Backup\log directory. If you have backed it up to tape you could always restore it.

If attempting to restore it, you should always restore to an alternate location otherwise it will get overwritten by current log entries. Furthermore, in some earlier versions it wasn't backed up correctly, so you may need to patch your ARCserve version up before you can back it up properly in the first place.
