since a few days I have problem with arcserve 11,5.
after some tests with new version of arcserve on new server I have conected two adic scalar 24 librarys to the old server (again) and sine then I can't have them both online (one is for unix/linux systems and the second one is for windows).
this combination was working properly for two years. right now I have always one tape drive offline (not always the same drive). when I try to use device configuration I get the message that I don't have license for tape librarys option but this license is to 2009 so it should work!
this is part of tape.log with strange message:

2008/11/28 09:12:13 [01ec] Loading Changer.dll: Date[Apr 29 2008] Time[12:25:00]
2008/11/28 09:12:15 [07e8] LDN:1 Critical Error, Library must have atleast one drive!!!

and from brightstor.log:

[11/28/2008-09:24:46 ,1,0,0,0,-1,2,1,0,0] E8000 Critical Error, Library must have at least one Library drive assigned. [Device:2][ADIC Scalar 24 309A]

both librarys and 3 tape drives are OK. When I connect only one library i don't have any problems. I have no idea what is happening so maybe a little help from somebody? :)

I tried reinstalling arcserve but the problem appeard again.

ps sorry form my english it is not my native language.

What version of the library agent are you using?

In the console go to help then About CA Arcserve backup. When the dialogue box opens click Add/View Licenses. Check that the CA ARCserver r12 for Windows Tape Library Option is listed as licensed.

yes it is licensed. everything looks OK but when I try to connect both adics with 3 tapedrives it seems no to be OK anymore :( my ca support don't want to give me another license even some trial version just to make some tests.

arcserve\logs\libsetup.log

around the end of the log should be a message about cking the license and that should help to discover the cause.

Hello everyone,

I am having a similar problem on ArcServ r11.5, For whatever reason the Exabyte PacketLoader 1x10 is not connected to the arcserv software. ArcServ thinks it's not connected however I have checked the hard device manager and it is there and working fine so at this point after searching for 5 days I have decided to ask for help here all of my licensing is in order or appears to be. I really need help on this it is making me pull my hair out now at this point.

In the logs I am getting an E8000 Error basically because ArcServ says the device is not connected. I have screen shots I can send to you for you to see what I am talking about any help or any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

New problem new thread is the correct way to go.
what controller is being used?
is the controller driver SCSI Mini or Storport?

in my case the solution was the new machine with new ver. of arcserve :)
but after one month I have the same problem...right now I don't know how to restart/clear "manage liceses". I unmarked tape linrary option license one time and it didn't appear again...
