I've just started getting 2 Event Errors on Exch 5.5 SP4:
Event ID 4130 Source: MSExchangeIMC
The Internet Mail Service was unable to archive a message because MoveFile failed with error code 0x00000020 while attempting to move C:\EXCHSRVR\imcdata\in\H4JXQZFR to...
We're an NT shop and upgraded a few workstations to XP for testing purposes. InoculanIT ver 4.53 appears to run okay on XP even though the CA's driver update page says it's unsupported for versions 4.x.
Yet on a bunch of FAQs they talk about NT/2000/XP running with 4.53. Anybody else use XP...
I had this apparent hack attempt from somewhere in the South Pacific logged in Event Viewer for the Exchange Server IMC. The category is "SMTP Interface" with Events ID 4183. The text is as follows:
"Authentication attempt (AUTH LOGIN) from 211.158.76.185 as \abc failed...
Copy this into Notepad and save it as a batch file, e.g. "SstopExch.bat"
net stop msexchangeMTA
net stop msexchangeIS
net stop msexchangeDS
net stop msexchangeSA
exit
Put it on your desktop and doubleclick it when you want the services shutdown.

I'm a semi-newbie to Exchange and was wondering why the IMC Queues GUI would show outbound emails with the origination of <>. That is to say they are not from my company.

Thanks in advance.

My question is do I need set the aux (5) or cty (0) ports at all? Also the configuration...
Since the reboot of a server is always required after the installation of a Service Pack, it makes sense to stop all the Exchange services before applying the SP. Beyond that, it has also been recommended to reinstall the Exchange service pack after the NT service pack to avoid any possible...
There is an article on Technet as well as on Computer Assoc. website telling you how to set up the program to exclude scanning certain files et al.
Even with both articles (which are somewhat conflicted) I still had problems with my directory DB quite frequently. We finally got rid of Inoculan...
In case anybody cares if you go to Internet Mail Service and under routing, you can change/add the domain to be accepted directly i.e. "inbound".
We have 2 domain names we use for email. For example Exchange is set up for user@abc.com and routes mail to user@xyz.net addresses on the server (using the same prefixes). Can you change the server connections to accept xyz.net directly and if so where would you change it?
TIA
