I wanted to restrict Telnet access to our Cisco router and set up an access-list for allowing any node Telnet access on our class C license. Then I set the vtys such that 6-10 were set to access-list 1.

My question is do I need set the aux (5) or cty (0) ports at all? Also the configuration says "Line(s) not in async mode -or- with no hardware support: 1-4" So I'm assuming these don't need to be addressed.

Thanks in advance.

Telnet users connects to vty ports. By default you normally have 5 vty ports, assigned to lines 1 to 5, or from 6 to 10, as in your case. Line 0 (or 5 in your case) is assigned to the aux port, which may be used for an async modem connection (dial in, for remote support). Do a sh line, and everything would be clear for you.
So, you dont need to address line 5.

Makes sense. Except what is the "0 cty" port for?

This is the port assigned to the console. If you have a console attached to the router please check this field.
