    Outlook 2000 with Exchange 5.5

Create a local .pst file and move all their stuff to it out of exchange mail box. Whack the mailbox off the exchange server and recreate it from scratch. Recopy all contacts, mail etc etc back to box. Storm

Exchange 5.5 upgrade to [better] 3rd Party Server

Do you have an idea how your going to migrate the data from the information store to this imail system? Does imail have exchange import tools? Can imail read in PST files to new user mail boxes? IF not then it would seem you have to take each users mail out to a PST file and then keep your...

    Moving Internet Mail Service help

It should be pretty painless to mirror the settings over from every tab in the connector and then start it. The biggest deal is obviously to make sure that whatever the mail domain name is, That it resolves to the address of the new server. Taking the old servers IP address and assigning it to...

    Move Internet Mail Service

Our Isp automatically quenes all the mail for our domains so that if I shut down the server, it just holds the mail until the server or IMC is back online. I have never lost any mail by shutting down the IMC for hours at a time. Storm

Outlook Web Access Session time outs

nope. I have a feeling it might be that IE is sometimes spawning a new process and that new session is not authenticated. Still MS should find a fix for this. It seems to happen in combination with how many IE windows I have open or how long I have been booted up - I am just guessing really. Storm

Need to figure a way to stop this email from coming in

Okay I instituted the white list and Pop3 works just fine as long as under relay you allow authenticated users. Thanks guys! Storm

Need to figure a way to stop this email from coming in

In looking at the interface I notice there is a NAME field as well as an address field. What is the effect of using the name field? If someone has a person in their address book from my company but the name is different, is it going to block them? Example DADDY -vs- JOHN SMITH as the Display...

Need to figure a way to stop this email from coming in

This will not block valid authenticated POP3 users from sending mail through our server to people outside will it? I tried putting this white list on my firewall and none of our pop3 people could send e-mails outside anymore. Storm

Need to figure a way to stop this email from coming in

    >> I would like to set up Xwall to do this invalid recipient blocking. What do I need to do to turn it on? Is it on by default? Still not clear on how to make it work Storm

Need to figure a way to stop this email from coming in

cmeagan656 Not only can you configure it to just drop emails for invalid recipients, you can configure it to strip the delivery receipt and read receipt flags for all emails, which is something Exchange 5.5 can't do. >> I would like to set up Xwall to do this invalid recipient blocking. What...

NAV for Exchange & MAPI mode

MAPI/VAPI combination no problems here. I did have to turn off the real time virus scanner in the system tray as it was conflicting with the other scanning the system does on e-mail.

    FTP Account Setup

Did you look at the default "internet user account" that IIS sets up and compare that accounts security policies with the security policy of your ftpuser? What about LOG ON LOCALLY is that an option?

    FTP Account Setup

IN order for someone to get on your server via IIS (and therefore FTP) they need to have a couple of basic rights. LOG ON LOCALLY and ACCESS THIS COMPUTER FROM NETWORK. This is on NT 4 sp6 so your mileage may vary. In NT 4 I created a FTP Users group and give them those privledges and then added...

    Network Security (server and clients)

Okay so you are connecting to the internet with a modem. That means you have to put the firewall on the machine that connects with the modem and it has to be software based. I would say zone alarm is fine just don't use Black Ice Defender as it is not a reputable firewall. I have used Norton...

    Network Security (server and clients)

All firewalls are not created equal what can you afford? How are you connecting to the internet? Hardware firewalls can be very nice. As a start are you using network address translation on your router? Storm

From PDC+BDC to Active Directory : only 1 domain controller ?

I thought once you upgrade to 2000 active directory domain the PDC BDC model goes out the window. There is no primary server or secondary servers anymore just trees in the forest. Storm

    XWall Outbound Failure Question

I installed XWALL at the suggestion of a couple people here to test it on 2 exchange servers on the same network. SERVER A exchange 5.5 sp 4 on windows 2000 sp1 SERVER B exchange 5.5 sp 4 on windows NT4 sp6a Server B works great. Server A however cannot send any mail outbound to anywhere...

    Exchanged Logon Audits

This may not apply but I have seen this happen in the following circumstances: UserA has computer then moves to another computer UserB takes over USERA's old computer and we (IT) change the outlook profile by just changing the mailbox name. After that it will start saying that userB is opening...
