I hav domain network of 10 w2k professional clients and 1 w2k advanced server. All computers are in domain. 1 win2k prof computer has 2 NIC ...first is connected to broadband cable and second is connected to hub. All computer access internet via this w2kprof computer. Whats the best way to protect my network from hackers and virus. All w2k professional clients hav Mcafee antivirus installed and w2k advanced Server has Mcafee netshield antivrus installed. Now whats the best thing install on the win2k prof computer who has 2 NIC.

which is the best firewall? i mean which one do u recommend

All firewalls are not created equal what can you afford? How are you connecting to the internet?

Hardware firewalls can be very nice.

As a start are you using network address translation on your router?

You might want to look into port blocking. If the users only need access the internet, and don't need ftp or udp, close all ports on the w2k pro except port 80 which allows you onto the internet. If you need mail, open ports 25 and 110 which are smnp & pop3. Good luck.

Im planning to user Zone Alarm Pro?

I used to use this software called Winproxy ....which is firewall + intrnet sharin/management?

Okay so you are connecting to the internet with a modem. That means you have to put the firewall on the machine that connects with the modem and it has to be software based. I would say zone alarm is fine just don't use Black Ice Defender as it is not a reputable firewall. I have used Norton Personal Firewall and that is alright as well. The internet sharing program I used to use was called sygate. I have also used winproxy long ago but at the time it was not as good as sygate proxy for internet connection sharing. By the way. Windows 2000 and beyond have internet connection sharing built into them that may server you better than a third party program.
