Outlook Web Access Session time outs

I have noticed starting about 6 months ago that with the install of internet explorer 6 that when we access outlook web access on our NT 4 SP6a Exchange 5.5 sp4 system that the session constantly and randomly times out and requires a new logon. So for instance I will logon to my mail and click one message to read it, it pops up and then I hit reply and it times out and I have to reauthinticate. Then I click a new message to read and it times out. Then I reauthenticate and read a few more things and eventually it will time out again and force me to open a whole new main window.

This also happens on a windows 2000 exchange 5.5 system as well.

There are two places this could be happening.

A) A setting in the actual OWA web pages:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;173497&Product=ech

B) Session timeout in the IIS server.

I don't know any other session timeouts...

Hi, we're having the same problem within our organisation.

nope. I have a feeling it might be that IE is sometimes spawning a new process and that new session is not authenticated. Still MS should find a fix for this.

It seems to happen in combination with how many IE windows I have open or how long I have been booted up - I am just guessing really.
