Another simple way to do this is to add 2 A records since 'www' is technically a subdomain of the domain.tld:
Add
One for www.mycomp.com
and
One for mycomp.com
Both obviously pointing to the same ip.

Yeah I've gotten about 1000 or so in the last couple days. Depending on how you get your email, I just simply added OTC Financial Network to my antispam blocklist.
Outlook itself doesn't have any control to filter out certain things. However you can create a rule that will deal with it. It's...
I suppose I'll start by saying that I said Task Manager, when I really meant Task Scheduler. I should be slapped for that....done.
What I am trying to accomplish is have simple tasks being set up to run on my pc's. Examples are a defrag every 2 weeks, or disk check every so often. Simple...
Does anyone know the best way or if it is possible to control the task manager on client machines via gpo? One thing that must happen is the tasks have to be run as the user of that machine (as opposed to local admin account)
Can't find too much on google about this. A few products here and...
also check the size of your pst itself. It is supposedly able to go up to 18 gb i think, but it almost always has issues long before that, and if your getting a lot of spam, that may be the issue.

Wow...I thought I had it bad looking through 5-6000 a week for my 2 legit ones.
As a side note, I've had some decent success reducing spam to the end users inbox by filtering anything with a picture attatchment on it. This has filtered most of those wonderful stock tips and the majority of...
Wow..you guys are fast. heh.
Option 3 is a good way to go. Be sure to change the DNS A Records on the website to reflect teh new IP address you get from your ISP, and of course configure your firewall accordingly.
Good luck
Can you give us a bit of information about your setup then? Both servers in a DMZ, or in your LAN behind a firewall?
Also, is there a reason these sites are separate or could they be combined to a single machine?
Are both sites hosted on the same public IP address?
What is happening is that...
When you say that you have two webservers in house, do you mean that you have two separate machines hosting a website each in your network, or do you mean you have IIS on one machine and it is hosting 2 websites?
If it's the fist then you have have a DNS issue, or if it is the second, your...
Ahh yes sorry for that. We are not using exchange, but just imap accounts to our host provider. As far as the PST's i was thinking of writing a script to automatically cop them to the server mostly for the sake of saving them. Having each user's target folder for saving it in their profile...
Morning,
We currently have about 25 users all using Outlook 2003 as their email client. Over the past few years, everyone has done a great job of saving all of their emial (except spam of course). So now I started here and one of the first things I recognize is horrendously large PST's. (most...
Something else you may be able to do, although it won't help with the spam you are getting, but with the issue of you being blocked, is see if your ISP will add an SPF record on their DNS server that's hosting your zone.
It's really simple to do if you have control of your DNS settings for...
Also keep in mind as to what the users will be able to do with these machines away from work. If they are able to use that laptop in an irresponsible way outside of the work enviornment and allow for open ports, unpached vulnerabilities, or getting malware, any attacker will be able to get...
Alternatively, if microsoft SMTP/POP3 is giving you a hard time, or in my case would just randomly have issues, there's a great open source, jsut for windows mail server out there call ed hmailserver ( www.hmailserver.com ) I found it simple to use and I am currently integrated with IIS and...
This is actually a lot simpler than you'd think.
Since you said you've set it up on your registrar's DNS panel, I'll skip that part.
Short answer is you need to create a new website in IIS ( right click on the Web Sites folder and select New|Website) Give it a friendly name on the first...
When the clients are down you said you are not able to ping by DNS name (www.novell.com) but can you ping to IP address? ( I always use 4.2.2.1) If your getting responses from the IP address, then you most likely have a DNS issue. I would take a look at what DHCP is assigning for DNS (only DC...
