previous msg was close but my iunderstanding is you need:
1 NT Server Licence for the server running Exchange
1 Exchange Server licence for the Exch software.
1 exchange CAL for each user.
Outlook upto Outlook 2000 is free as the main client software (note:this is not a full office only...
check out the Header.exe program on the back office resource kit. this allows you to create customised csv files from the Tools-> Export within Exchange Admin.
the field you need is secondary proxy addresses.
add your additional SMTP address into this field using Excel...
I have recently noticed my MTA's have been "hanging" or at least working very slowly. When went to the event logs they were full - increasing the size\and setting them to overwrite as required and using nbtstat -a to kick the connections off suddenly emptied the queues.
Maybe a...
This may be a false lead but I have had problems when installing 5.5 on Win 2k.
This is using a Select CD and running svrmax.exe (or svrmin.exe I guess). The resolution here is to copy the CD to a hard drive and change the install program (svrmax.exe) to setup.exe and running the install from...
There is and Active Directory Connector that you need to install but I cannot remember where you get it from.
Try the Exchange MS site or the EX2000 Resource Kit.
You can filter the address in the IMC and then set a turfdir directory on your server. This won't actually send the msgs to a mailbox but you can readthe msgs manually fom the directory.
Check out
Q245465 for filtering
Q193926 for creating the turfdir
There is a way but it will help M$ keep the money rolling in !
If you are are using Outlook XP (no problem for Exchange 2000 users as I believe it is free as it is the default client) there is a "free" tool called Internet Free & Busy.
MS provide a Free & Busy server on the internet...
Go to the Site Addressing within the Configuration on each Site and change the SMTP Address to
%g.%s@domain.com
OK it and when you accept the last OK it will ask you if you want to change all the existing addresses.
If you say yesit will automatically update all the addresses for you.
One...
The quick answer is yes.
1. Back it up first and do not allow any further mail activity.
2. Remove the IMC (its easier) but document it first.
3. Run the Optimiser and document the file locations.
4. Stop the services and copy all the exchsrvr directories onto another server.
5. Waste the...
It depends on where you want to direct:
1. internally - then use the Delivery Options Tab and then set the alternative recipient.
2. Externally. Set up a Custom Recipient with the SMTP address of the redirected target. But then add a Secondary SMTP address using the address that you want to...
I have used this tool over 20 times now and it is the business.
However there are some gotchas:
1. make sure you have all servers at the same Service pack
I use SP6a and SP4(exch)
2. REMOVE THE EVENT SERVICE FROM EXCHANGE !!!!!!
3. Backup
4. Copy the Directory Services Directory before you...
My guess is one of two areas:
1. Permissions
Check that the overide tab on the connector and reset the permissions to both service accounts and their passwords.
2. NETBIOS.
Can you ping the other server by NAME from each of the sites - if not WINS/LMHOSTS entries required
I am currently moving all our companies widespread email servers into a singlr Exchange and NT domain and the NT domain move may be of some help.
What I would suggest is ;
1. Run the exchange optimiser and secure the settings.
remove the IMC but document settings
2. Stop all services...
I cannot think of any good reason why XP should cause this.
Can you ping the Exchange Server by name rather than by IP?
If not then you need WINS or an LMHOSTs setting
