Hi Whosrdaddy,
I'd seen that website before but had lost track of it! Thanks very much. From what I've seen so far it's exactly what I need.

Thanks for the reply whosrdaddy, but what I need is a procedure to read the event log. I believe the code you posted writes to the event log, but does not read it.

...well would be to make the max of the progress bar to be 100 and get the progress like this
progressbar1.count := <position in file> / filesize(f) * 100
That would give you the percentage out of 100 of the position in the file that you are at. You would also have to round the number to the...
Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right forum for this question (at least it's half right!). I need to read the NT event log from Delphi, but have found dozens of source snippets that show how to write to it, but none to read from it. Does anyone have some information on how to do this...
Pretty much if the spring is dangling then it's broken (even if it isn't broken, you should really replace it anyway, because I'd nearly guarantee it would break eventually). The new ICL arm is made of metal rather than plastic, so will last quite a bit longer.

whereabouts is this stripe you are describing? I had a problem where every so many pages a 8500 would print a multicolored stripe across a page (and also had a little ghosting). Ended up being a broken ICL arm. The replacement of the arm and spring fixed it. Would be an idea if you check...
Yes the G85 has the spiffy blue light to auto-align the cartridges :)
I'd guess that one of the new cartridges is not functioning when it does it's alignment procedure. Make sure there is both color and black printouts on the page, otherwise it won't align and keep failing.

...fault on another 860? The paper stops right behind the front access door and just after it's passed the pre-heater entry sensor. Funny thing is, *some* pages go through (eg. it fails 95% of the time, but for some reason every now and then one or two pages will get through).

Yeah the ICL Arm (I think that's what it's called) usually breaks and the cleaning roller doesn't clean off any excess toner from the transfer drum I believe. (also can cause a big colorful "smudge" in the middle of pages after a calibration is done, since it doesn't clean off the toner after...

Sounds like a Postscript file. You may have to install the Laserjet 4200 Postscript driver instead of the PCL version (or in addition to it).
The Postscript driver for the 4200 is here...
according to the service manual I have a 21.06 is:
Left printhead jetstack thermistor is out of range. Replace the printhead.
Sounds like it's a good candidate for the junkheap :)

...button. If the carriage slides back onto the service station on the right then the cartridges are fine, if it doesn't, then there's a faulty cartridge (but unfortunately there's no way to tell *which* cartridge is faulty.. it's just a matter of trial and error).

You haven't mentioned what kind of printer you are talking about, but I would assume that you cannot use both the USB and parallel ports at the same time. To get both PC's to print to the printer you would either have to share it over a network (either connected to one PC and shared, or by...
These things are more expensive than what they're worth! :)
Sure end users say "Oh but I LOVE the printouts they do!".. but hell.. with the price of the wax sticks and maintenance on the damn things...

I'm boggled, I've seen a lot of Maintenance drawers with notches on the lift pins, but never known if they were worn or not? Is there a picture somewhere on the net that shows a good maint. drawer and a worn one??

You could also try reseating the video card (pull it out, and slot it back in). This problem can happen if the card pulls out of the AGP slot, usually at the back of the card (most new boards have retaining clips at the rear of the AGP slot to prevent this)

The only thing I can think of is maybe a 4200/4300 with duplexer (and only print on the duplexed side?). Seems a bit of a hassle though. Can't get the paper printed with the numbers in reverse?

Here's a tricky one...
I have a customer that has a Phaser 850 which comes up with an error 07,005.47. This only happens intermittently (we had it in the shop and ran diagnostic tests on it fine and it printed out 140 pages or so with no problems). 2 weeks later we get a call from the same...
