My officejet G85 will not align after I installed new cartridges. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually align?

That or some trouble shooting steps.

I have removed and reinstalled the cartridges 5 times, and each time it prompts me to press enter to align the cartridges. Each time I have tried to align them 5+ times with no improvement in the results.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would start by cleaning the cartridges on the electric contacts and also the carriage side of the printer – use a linen free cloth just humid; avoid cleaning the actual print head ( bottom part of the cartridge).
Many times dirt from ink residue causes bad contacts in the electric ‘pins’, I had problems before with glue residue from the tape that seals the cartridge when it is new.
I cannot remember know if this printer has a sensor on the right side of the carriage( normally a light is visible when printer is trying to align) – if there is a sensor clean the sensor.
If everything else fails – try a new cartridge – it would be the first time they came bad.
I’m assuming that you are using original hp cartridge!?

Yes the G85 has the spiffy blue light to auto-align the cartridges :)

I'd guess that one of the new cartridges is not functioning when it does it's alignment procedure. Make sure there is both color and black printouts on the page, otherwise it won't align and keep failing.
