Create a backup to disk device on the new server.. Copy the contents of the existing folder to the new folder. In the devices tab, inventory that folder then catalog the individual pieces of media that is displayed in that folder.
It is possible (don't do it) for it to work without it being in a domain, but it is highly recommended that you configure it in a domain. I would just create a domain admin account.

Sorry.. I need more information.. Are you trying to restore an individual email or the entire IS when restoring to get this attachment back? Is the granular option enabled in BE through Tools | Options? You need to backup the IS initially..
Oh Boy! You gave up too soon.. It sounds like there was an issue with SQL.. Do you still have your Backup Exec data folder and catalogs? was it a complete uninstall of BE? If so, just uninstall SQL and reinstall the entire program, but make sure there aren't any other programs using that SQL...
You need to install HotFix 6 and HotFix 13 on the media server. After updating the media server, you will need to push install the remote agent to the remote servers (this updates the remote agent). I hope this helps and good luck!

I upgraded my 9.1 to 10.0 by just installing. I didn't have to use any other tools. You shouldn't have to use any tools to move catalogs or the database unless you want to.
Just upgrade. You might want to make sure none of the jobs are running then upgrade. Install it on top of your existing BE. Do you have a complicated environment?
