Hi crazypainter,
You can run perform a silent install of the remote agent.
1. on the remote server, map a drive to the Backup Exec install CD or download path. (you can also put the cd in the remote server)
2. browse to the winnt\install\eng\i386\ntaa\ folder
3. double click on the setupaa.cmd...
Version 8.6 only had two builds 3808 and 3878 (see your help about for the revision)
You can go to www.support.veritas.com and go to support downloads, select Backup Exec Server Products/ Backup Exec for Windows servers and use the filter to select the type - patches and the version that you...
Guys,
Backup Exec 8.6 uses a database pvl.mdb. Version 9.0 uses a SQL MSDE database. There is no way to simply copy over the database, installing 9.0 on top of 8.6 (upgrade) is the only way to bring over the jobs and media set information.
You could copy the catalogs folder over and just...
Did you install the Exchange Administrator on the Backup Server?
Also check that the edbbcli.dll file version is the same as the one on the Exchange Server. This is how Backup Exec communicates to the Exchange 5.5 store and needs to be the same version.
Sorry, I overlooked that you said they are on the same server. Go to the System Manager and make sure the account you are logged in as has Exchange Full Adminstrator rights.
EDBBCLI.dll is only used with Exchange 5.5
If Backup Exec is on a different server to Exchange, you need to install the Exchange System Manager on the Backup Server, this will provide the right dll (ESEBCLI2.DLL) to communicate with the Information Store.
Cheers,
Bobafet
If Exchange is on a different server than the Backup Server, you need to install the Exchange Manager(Exch 2000) or the Exchange Administrator (Exch 5.5) on the Backup Server to provide connection to the remote Exchange server. Same applies to SQl , if it is on a different server, you need to...
Please try to upgrade to 8.5. It is a free upgrade from 8.0.
Download and install the new build from the below link.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/235770.htm
BENT v8.5 build 3572 rc9 (Intel) (English) (SBS Support) Serial # Req.
It looks like Veritas is aware of the problem and will be fixed in their next major release.

When shutting down a computer that has the Backup Exec Remote Agent installed and running as a service, the computer will <beep> once.
Try uninstalling the agent and rebooting.
shut down the pc and see if it still beeps?
Another thing you could try is to stop the service and shut down the pc. What version and build do you have?
go to tools/options/media overwrite - what are the settings?
go to the media tab at the bottom of the screen and go to the media sets.
what are the media settings for the user media sets?
Is the server paused? go to the media tab, check the server name. If it has paused next to it, right click the server name and unclick paused.
If the server is not paused, what version and build are you running? see help/about.
The first thing I would do is upgrade to version 8.5 3572.
This is a free upgrade from version 8.0
you can download and install 8.5 from the below link:
