First verify that "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" is installed in each workstations Connection Properties. It needs this to create the admin share (c$)
Then make sure that if you have a desktop firewall on each workstation that you trust your server's ip address.

Well I think I solved my similar problem that I was having with Network Time and I thought that I might share my solution
Config:
Two Win2K Domain Controllers and One Win2K3 Domain Controller. One of the Win2K servers is at the top of the time hierarchy.
Workstations are a mix of Xp Pro and...
Did you ever find a middle ground to get your time set correctly? I am curious as I have been having the same kind of trouble and can't seems to find a pattern.
I have a similar problem. I have two Win2k and 1 2003 domain controller. Systems get their time from the domain. I had to manually tell my Xp clients to NOT automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time. I really do not know what is causing this.
If I disable the adjust for Daylight Savings...
Are your clients setup in "cached exchange mode" ? I found that when I turned this on.... and created new users they would not show up in the global address list
I turned it off and sure enough my new users showed up in the global address List.
Just a thought
I have a Sonicwall TZ170 currently with Sonic Standard OS 3.04. I would like to setup a WAN failover to a different ISP using the OPT port.
I realize that I have to upgrade to the Sonic Enhanced OS to facilitate the WAN failover but I was reading in the Enhanced Admin Guide that the WAN...
I have an Exchange 2003(Standard) server with a 38 GB D: drive that contains the exchsrvr folder. The total reported size of this exchsrvr folder is 4.10 GB. There is nothing else installed on that drive besides exchange but my total reported free space is only 17.0GB. What is taking up 21.0 GB...
I would back-up the information store. Blow the server away and start with a fresh install of Windows 2K3 server.
Then join the Domain, install Exchange 2K3 and restore your information store.
You will probably save time in the long run since you will end up going down that road anyway...
What is the best way to move My Terminal Services Licensing Installation with 6 Cals to new hardware.
Terminal services licensing is basically all that is left on an aging server that I would like to get rid of.
Do I de-activate then re-activate on the new server?
Anybody ever done this before?
Most SonicWall products support the Viewpoint Reporting system http://www.sonicwall.com/products/viewpoint.html
I use it and it is pretty comprehensive. You can get stats on bandwidth usage, web usage, browse time, sites blocked...etc.
Yes the screen saver is password protected (or at least is intended to be). The settings revert back to as if there is no screen saver specified and no password is required upon resume.
I have two users on my network that their screen savers automatically disable. I triple checked our group policy and this is not being set there.
Users can re-enable the screen saver and then later in the day it will be disabled again. What could possibly be doing this?
Both P.C's run Windows...
My boss wants a digital voice recorder for transcription.
We are looking at the Olympus DS-330 and some of the Sony models that use memory stick.
Anybody have any personal experience with these units in general?
Here is what we need:
- at least 3 hours of high quality recording time.
-...
It sounds to me like a terminal services problem. If the clients that are connecting do not have Windows 2000 professional or Xp Pro then you need to obtain a terminal services license for them to connect.
The symptom at the client for having no terminal services cal is exactly as you describe.
Well I am running Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003 sp1.
I can turn off cached exchange mode and I see the correct GAL and then I turn it back on and I don't! Same problem as you.
I do happen to run Office XP Sp3 as our Word, Excel and Powerpoint but have Outlook 2003 sp1. Could this somehow be...
I am having the same exact issue. I Have installed Office 2003 Sp1 to no avail. I also do not have the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Cached Mode key in my registry.
Did you ever resolve this????
