    Sounds like the only thing left now is to replace the jack at the wall. I know sounds stupid but i had the same thing go on for a month the only thing that was left was the Jack.

    Sounds like you have a CICS system with the modem feature still enabled. By default it is set to answer line 1 and i think it is after three rings. The ring setting may have been changed to one. If it is a CICS system diable the modem.

    you can have line xxx set to N for aux in line config but night service lines are set to yes for AUX by default
