Hello, everyone.
I'm trying to develop a "web-aware" CD-ROM. I need to be able to connect to the internet and exchange data w/ a web-based database using php, and do this from within a Flash projector file (stand-alone player).
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Oc.
I suggest the book: The New Masters of Flash (or, more to my tatse, the more recent Anniversary edition). Some of the contributing 'masters' discuss the *concept* of programming 3D, as well as giving you actual code that you can modify on the companion CD.
Excellent investment.

Eric:
Thanks for that. I like the option of making the source code available if we go under, and we will probably approach it like that.
Thanks again.
Bill.

Again, I tried getURL and it locked my computer up every time. Don't know what the difference is, but if it worked for you in a projector file, I'll look at it again.
Also, JStart looks like what I'm after in any case. Thanks.

I know this subject has been touched on before, but allow me to ask a pointed question:
Is there a way to create a button within a flash projector file that will link to a website, or open an e-mail editor and insert the address?
It appears that "fscommand" will not let you pass...

I guess my thinking is that if they own the copyrights, they can take my design to any other designer and have them modify it. I'm particularly concerned about another designer not meeting my standard of work in some re-design, and it reflecting badly on my business.
The other concern is...
Hello, everyone.
I have a question on handling contracts concerning source code. I'm dealing with a client concerning a flash-based web site. They have a team of people deliberating over my standard design contract. The one member who is most technically savvy insists they own the copyrights to...
Hi, folks.
This isn't a design question, or a programming one. But I'm dealing with a client -- concerning a flash web site -- who has a team of people deliberating over my standard design contract. The one member who is most technically savvy insists they own the copyrights to the site; my...
Curious:
If MIVA is extensible and customizable, could I add a small Flash file to a page with MIVA content in it? A Flash animated banner, for instance? And are there any predefined controls within the layout editor to accomodate this, or would I have to go into the HTML code (likely the...
Robert:
Just wanted to say thanks for the tip on webaxxs.net. I'm new to this forum and just browsing through the threads. I have checked out webaxxs and am impressed.
BTW: how easy/difficult is it to customize the layout w/ Miva? I've seen some pretty nice customizations, but don't know...

#1: glad you're back!
#2: got my form feedback problem worked out; and I'm using your code. Thanks again!
#3: While we're on the subject, what about getting time &/or date in Flash4? Developing a site w/ Flash4 compatibility, I find it frustrating to try to load text from a text file...

Thought I posted a couple of days ago. Must've done something wrong.
The prob w/ a mask is I'm using a photographic background, almost full bleed, fading to charcoal at the edges. Because of the photographic detail and the gradient fade to gray, I'm, afraid even a cleverly clipped portion...
If you want actual video (and don't want to create a flash-style video by exporting from a video editing program), you'll probably have to use WildForm's Flix program. It encodes video directly into the .swf format.

Alright, friends, one more.
I am trying to create a fading (rather than scrolling) marquee. What I've done is created a dynamic text box and put it by itself into a movie clip. Then I tween that clip to fade up and out in a timed sequence. I'm loading the text into the main timeline and...
Jeff:
Thanks to you, as well, for the feedback. It's the largest and most comprehensive project I've completed since I started my business on the side first of this year.
By the way, my pastor was in charge of the Nigeria trip (African A Team), and just got home this past weekend. Awesome...
