You mentioned that the problem appear after running the computer for a period of time, this might indicate heat related problems and may not be the hard disk.
I'd buy an adaptor to connect the hard disk to a desktop and run diagnostics to determine if the drive is faulty and also check the temp...
Hey Guys,
You seemed to have looked at all components and change whatever you can get your hands on but have you tried to change the DVD drive and see if the problem goes away?
Right click and drag the DOS program to the desktop and choose create shortcut(s) here option from the pop up menu.
Now you have a shortcut to the DOS program, and if you right click and choose Properties, then you can set the font size and other parameters and you won't see the DOS window when...
I suppose you still have your CD Key. If that's the case, just borrow a xp pro cd from someone, install it using your own CD key & that's fine.
BTW, just curious, if you're still "piecing together" a system, which system are you using to burn the CD???
Hi Bookouri,
Why would you want to place the files in physical order? What if you copy more files to the drive? you'll have to do the whole sorting again.
To show the files in alpha order on a DOS prompt - use
DIR /ON or DIR /O-N (descending order)
do a dir /? to show all the switches for...
Here's what I've done with mine:
(assuming you've connected the LAN port of the Access point to one of the LAN ports of the router)
1 - go into setup page of router and check the ip & subnet mask of your router. It probably is 192.168.0.xxx or 192.168.1.1 and subnet is 255.255.255.0.

Hi RiezalR,
Follow this link
http://ftp1.us.dell.com/utility/
& download the R62200.exe which is a USB driver for NT. It works with USB flash drives but not sure if it works USB Hard Drives. I tried it with a 40G USB drive and couldn't get it to work. May be you'll have better luck.
Try manually assign a drive letter by going into control panel - administrative tools - computer management - disk management. See if your usb drive is there on the right panel, if it isn't then your USB drive may not be working properly.
If it is, right click on it and choose change drive...
Wolluf are you sure it's EverestHome?
Tried the free home edition of everest, couldn't see any info relating to installed software ????? May be you've got better eyes than I ;D
I tried it with Groupwise and Outlook 2000 still the lnk file is changed to the original file. But I think I might posted to the wrong forum. I use Win 2K at work, XP might behave differently. Will try attaching a lnk file at home with my XP box.
Thanks
linney,
You know users, they will foul up if I send them the link as text and ask them to create a shortcut. They will end up with all sort of interesting error.
SimonD, how do I append the link as a .lnk file?
Eric
Hi,
Have been puzzled by this for a while, hope the experts in this forum can help.
I want to send a shortcut of a MSaccess DB via email. Just the shortcut, not the actual DB file.
But when I attached the shortcut and send the email, the email program(I use groupwise 6.5)automatically attach...
The tray icons are programs loaded at startup. If they are not in the Startup folder then they should be listed in the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Just find the programs and remove the ones that you don't want to load at...
if you're using IE6:

Get the ultimate boot CD (forgot the URL so you have to google for it). Change boot order to CD first and boot from the UBCD. Use the password reset feature to reset the administrator password and then hopefully, you can log in.
hope this helps.
Run Regedit and find the folder containing the program in question and delete it in the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
