Greetings oh knower of Mac, X, or Unix.
Thank you for shopping...
Here's the issue:
Mac Mail application has a bugaboo.
Running on a 2 year-old iMac.
Using the native "MAIL" program some mail has been lost.
Looks like a corrupt folder or mailbox.
The console reports "Table of...
Three beeps? Er I believe the chap said three flashing lights:-)
Sounds like the motherboard to me.
Anxious to hear the word from the shop. Please post.

So you are setting up a server? What kind of box are you serving from? Is this an Xserve? Typically whne setting up a servering machine, the dns infomation comesf rom your ISP. Do they know you are serving?
Maybe you could post some more info for me and I'd be delighted to assist.

Lisas,
I want to check in on this "maintenance" bit. Since I service them I consider myself qualified to comment.
If it has moving parts it needs servicing. You're prudent to ask. I have several clients that have not had service on their machine(s) for three years of more. An ounce...
No that's great. I'm not certain I fully "get" the terminal commands you're spelling out but that whay they call it the learning curve, eh.
Appreciate you making the time to reply. Do note, not another soul jumped in on this one:-)

Have you tried using a disk utility like Tech Tool or Norton?
You are not able to cold boot from a CD?
Did you install X on this older iMac?
What drive did you replace? I'd really like more details about the drive replacement too please. (system config, drive pulled, drive installed, OS on...
I've got a PB 15" and I've service a few for clients. That 17' tft is pretty big. I can't imagine what purpose (other than having a BIG screen) it would truly serve.
The 15" is very adequate. You know, it's not the size of the laptop but the mousing of the user that really counts...
It's a blue and white G3 tower. Had a 6GB drive (factory) and we've put a 60gb drive in as the slave drive with OS X (10.2.6). Now, for some reason, media inserted in the CD drive doesn't mount on the desktop. (didn't see Office X or a music CD).
I wonder, device ID or driver issue?
Can...
Wow this is one messed up thread. YIKES.
Number one...obviously a "new" powerbook is shipping with OS X. Additionally, application memory is handled by the unix core in X and to my knowledge (which is limited) you are not able to self manage the memory to your individual applications...
Can you tell me what you are currently using (or have used) to connect the two machines? Judging from the title of your post you are using AppleShare?
You should not have issue connecting the two OS's you mention here.

Okay I'm hear to help but frankly I don't know enough about your system to give you solid support. Did you upgrade the OS? If so, to what version?
I'll fire off a few shots in the dark though until you post your system configurations.
Number one - bag conflict catcher. Worthless.
Reboot your...
This is a very tough situation.
Are you able to READ the disk that's stuck?
I know from experience that there comes a time to unfortunately grab needlenose pliers and grab that sucker out.
Sounds like you've done everything else.
have you used the iTools from Iomega?
You might want to hit...
Just finished a confab with another Mac consultant on this very issue. What we determined is that the current CD drive in that b/w G3 (yosemite) can be pulled aand an IDE CD burner can be plugged right in with no trouble.
Now we haven't done it yet so... :-)

This sounds like an encryption issue.
he older browser you are using may not have the proper encryption for the security you seek.
You may look to the microsoft we site and see if there's an encryption patch or update for the browser you mention but I'd be skeptical.

yep guys above are bright fellows.
May also be something in your Startup Items folder.

Or it's possible an auto recover of a document, perhaps in AppleWorks, is trying to sort itself out.
I'll be looking for more details from you on your system...
I'm not certain what partition is being referred to above but that could just be my ignorance.
OS X launches some yet-to-be-ported-to-X applications in the "Classic" environment. What that basically means is that OS 9 launches in the background of X. Therefore it's advisable to have...
AppleSahre IP - obviously NOT what's being used in this instance - also has a server setting to disconnect users after a time period. We've set ours at ten minutes. Otherwise we find servers mounted on desktops and no supervision - and lots of prying eyes here.

It's possible the file you downloaded was corrupt and wouldn't play regardless. MPG codecs are usually fine with what you can (and do) have on that machine. It's "avi" files that are trickier.
Note that dvd players work for dvd format. These are different technologies we are adressing...
As always JimboPalmer has beaten me to the draw:-)
It is not illegal to sell an iMac with an install of the operating system (and the applications associated with it). It is crossing the border to "give" third party applications like Photoshop to a person without their acquiring a...
According to Apple
"Rule Out Software
Confirm that the problem is not caused by a software conflict or corruption, which will usually affect both keyboard and mouse, and often intermittently. Note, however, that if the keyboard power button cannot be used to power on the iMac, the...
