Heck, show me a MS server that runs for 31/2 DAYS without a reboot and I'd be amazed.
And....
Don't even get me started on security.... I've spent all of the last two days at this client applying the RPC vulnerability fix to over 100 W2K servers....

I've seen problems with using the SP overlay on older hardware.
Your best bet is to install with the original CD, then apply SP 3

One other thing you could try, provided that your test server has plenty of memory, would be to install VMWare or VirtualPC on your 2K Advanced server & have an instance (or multiple instances) of the 5.1 server running in a virtual machine

First of all, you'd be very wise using an open file agent. Unfortuantely, they don't always work well; the only one that I recommend is made by St Bernard Software. However, if you're under fiscal restraints, you'll probably just want to go with the open file agent made by Veritas.
Given the...
Hi.
JRB Software (http://www.jrbsoftware.com)makes a suite of utilities that I've used several times over the years.
You can download a portion of their utilities for free here:

I believe that the one you want is called setrest.exe
You can go to...
Here's my $.02
1. BackupExec sucks less than ArcServe (or Brightstor, or whatever else they're calling it) does, so you made a good choice there.
2. For DR, use Portlock Storage Manager. It absolutely rocks. If Portlock would only give the ability to open an archive (ala Ghost Explorer), I'd...
Your resolv.cfg looks fine, as long as that's the server that is hosting your zones (I'll assume that it is).
Using the zone of wallingtongirls.sutton.sch.uk, the fully qualified domain name for your web services will be whsg.wallingtongirls.sutton.sch.uk
In the forward zone...
I believe that NetStorage really relies on the reverse zone; it knows its name but needs that resolved to its IP address.
One thing that I forgot to mention to you yesterday -- if you used a name other than the server name for web services, you also need forward and reverse zones for that. For...
Hi.
This should work:
1. Make sure that the user's NDS & Samba username & password are the same
2. In the NetWare login script, add your map lines like this --
map root x:=servername\volume:directory
# net use y: \\servername\sharename
That should do it for you

The first thing to check with NetStorage problems is DNS. NetStorage will NOT function without DNS.
Check that you have an entry for the server in DNS, in both the forward & reverse zones.
If not, create them.
Next, check that your server's sys:etc\resolv.cfg has an entry pointing to the DNS...
Oh. So you're seeing the authtier box, not the normal NetStorage login screen.
I've seen that before....
I'll try to pull the answer out of my archives

I'll give you an example. On my home tree, my tree name is home-tree, my organization object is home, and my user object is in a container called users.
So, my names are:
Fully Distinguished- .cn=bill.ou=users.o=home
Distinguished- bill.users.home
For your NetStorage, you would want to use...
You should use your distinguished name (ie username.ou.o)
What browser/version are you using?

I misspoke.
The incoming messages don't get blocked, but are sent to the junk mail folder, where they can be deleted automatically. Effectively, though, your users won't "see" the junk mail.

Hi there.
Groupwise 6.5 has good anti-spam features.
One that may be relevant to your problem is the ability to block all messages that didn't come from somebody in your address book.

I'm currently working for a client that is rolling out VoIP using Cisco gear, phones, etc.
While VoIP saves money in the long run, it does require what can be a substantial up front cost.
My recommendation would be to hire a reputable consulting firm to look at your business needs & do an...
