I found the answer to this, posting here in case it helps anyone.
I mentioned that the error occurs on a VM host. During the VM guest backups, the host creates Volume Shadow Copies of the guests and it is at this point the phantom "Disk 3" is created.
Using diskpart (diskpart/select disk...
I'm getting this in the System event log:
Source : partmgr
Event ID : 58
Description: Changing the disk signature of disk 3 because it is equal to the disk signature of disk 0.
This happens twice during a VSS backup of several virtual machines. The event is logged on the VM host, and...
Hi Luke,
There's not much to go on here, you'll need to get on site to get a better idea.
I would start by checking the Exchange server Application event log. Also check the System event log for general problems.
All versions of Exchange have extended logging capability, there are a couple of...
If you are trying to send an email to someone and it isn't getting through, you usually receive an email back saying that your message cannot be delivered. Often it is not easy to determine where the problem lies.
This FAQ shows you how to test whether an email gateway is alive and responding...
I find the CA User Community pages a real pain to navigate, awkward to use, search brings back totally irrelevant results. They are trying to make it a social network when a straight forum would be better.
These instructions work for Crystal Reports 7 Maintenance Release 1 (MR1) being installed on Windows 10 Pro and Windows 7 Pro. Other combinations have not been tested.
Copy the installation files off the CD to a new folder on your hard drive.
Edit the win32\x86\setup.inf file and remove...
My Xerox Workstation Pro is a different model number, but it is possible to change the HTTP port from 80 to range 8000-9999. Could be this is what's happened to yours.
We have a PC with the SonicWall client installed for remote client support. Any one of twenty people could log in to this machine. How can I create the connection icon and copy it to all users?
If I copy c:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\SonicWALL\SonicWALL Global VPN...
The agent allows more processing (e.g. enumerating files) to be done by the target machine which reduces network traffic and should speed up the backup.
In the properties on the two-way connector there is a 'deletion' tab with options to delete or keep deleted items (i.e. whether to replicate the deletion).
There are two sets of options, for replicating from Exch5.5 to AD and vice versa.
If the ADC is on a separate server from your Exch5.5...
The doc I posted a link to goes into more detail about ADC than any other I have seen, and from a basic level. I couldn't find an Exchange 2003 specific version but I believe that the concepts are still relevant and the doc answers the OP's original question extremely well.
There's a downloadable doc here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?amp;displaylang=en&familyid=c763b584-c511-4687-b27f-a13a8f82d4c8&displaylang=en
called "Understanding and Deploying Exchange 2000 Active Directory Connector", the E2000 ADC is very similar to the E2003 one.

Problem fixed, like ymeq123 says I needed to create a new backup job (with the registry value added) otherwise ArcServe is looking for an Exch 5.5 db.
The Source tab in the backup is different for Exch2000, now I get "Microsoft Information Store" and "Microsoft Site Replication Service" as the...
I have this setup:
Windows 2000 SP4 domain controller
ArcServe 2000 Workgroup SP5 (V7.0 build 1110)
ArcServe Exchange agent SP5 (build 900)
Exchange 2000 SP3
I have configured a dbagent account and successfully configured the CA Exch Backup Config Agent.
Backup of filesystem and brick-level...
Cured it! The .wgx file was on a CD, when I copied it over to C:\ it retained the Read-only bit. Cleared read only, all fine now! (Except it's on the same box as a Checkpoint and a Cisco VPN client, and doesn't run properly if the Cisco service is running, but that's another story!)
Thanks...
Jenlion,
Did you ever find a solution to this? I've got exactly the same problem. Also tried installing on a newly formatted W2K box, same message.
Thanks
Pete
Top stuff zbnet! I've now found a section on mdbvu32 in an exchange book that shows how to access MTS-OUT and MTS-IN, you can delete queued messages from here while the IMS service is stopped, this is exactly what I need to do. Thanks for your help.
For testing purposes I have set the Transfer Mode on my IMS to None (Flush Queues).
Now if I send a message from an internal mailbox to an external email address, it is not delivered (as I would expect) but I can't find where it is held.
Diag logging on the MTA shows that the message is added to...
Look for workstations running the Arcserve Discovery Service or the Arcserve Message Engine service. We normally turn these off but when one machine had them set to Automatic the log file would grow all the time the machine was on.
