thanks, but i worked it out through trial and error.
i had not appreciated that changing axis settings (min, max, ...) need to be done via Selection tool, but that graph type (line, bar, ..) need to be done through Group [Direct] Selection tool.
i had been trying to alter axis settings through...
Hi
I am using Illustrator CS3 on a mac running leopard.
Have been creating graphs, esp bar/line charts that use left and right axis. All fine.
But when i try and change the settings on an axis (scale, tick marks) - via clicking legend with group selection tool - then pop-up window accepts...
Type / Insert break character / Column break.
This may solve your problem.
Go to placement where you wish to manually control the end of the first column and use the above command.
Good luck.

Not sure if source of problem is your artwork or your printing. Trying to narrow down your problem, here are two thoughts:
Does the coloured background look ok in PDF output? (i.e. does it reach the edge of the artwork). If yes then the problem is printing rather than artwork.
What size of...
Guys
Currently experimenting with the Inbooklet plug-in on Indesign CS2 Mac. Increasingly I am being asked to design brochures with more than a handful of pages, hence the experimenting with Inbooklet (for documents from a dozen to a few dozen pages).
I would welcome insight from forum...

If you're trying to learn more about tables then here are two sources of useful training material.
(a) Before & After 'Page Design' book (www.bamagazine.com). this is an outstanding book - that has a section on tables - and the PDF subscription articles of Before & After are also superb...

Wonder if I could borrow your brain for a moment.
It's been a month or so since your counsel but I've now decided to give your approach a shot (being Indesign -> XML -> HTML? -> Mailings).
It is the XML -> Mailings piece on which I seek guidance.
I'm getting the basic idea of placing...
Hi there
Welcome to Indesign!
Bleed area is essential for artwork that touches the edge of the document. Bleed area need not be set when the document is created, it can be added or altered thereafter. So don't worry! I've got comments below - given that you've just started to use Indesign...
another tip re. picas, inches and other measurements.
the preferences tip (mentioned above) is great for permanent changes. but there's a way to quickly flip between measurement types.
if, on the mac at least, you hold down ctrl and click in the ruler at the top of the page or side of the...
Another idea for the pot...
if this problem seems to apply to some, but not all, documents then might be worth resetting the Indesign preferences.
This is done by holding down Shift+Option+Command+Control whilst the Indesign application is launching.
Good luck
Ekwoman, thanks.
I've had a fiddle and it seems reasonably simple. Cool.
One further query...
The process here seems to involve (a) create Indesign doc; (b) export to PDF; (c) add interactive boxes, etc manually in PDF file using Acrobat Pro.
That's fine, but what if after all this I need to...
is your query specific to Indesign?
Or does the font issue impact other applications that are also migrating, sadly, from mac to pc?

95MB. wow, that's a big image!
i'll leave the tech indesign comments to the pros but here's two thoughts:
- is the link the source file ok? (check pre-flight or links window)....if not, the image may be problematic when printing
- can the psd image be reduced from 95MB, say via flattening...

Not sure if your query is now resolved. In case not...
Indesign does not store images within the indd file, but rather links to the source files of placed graphics (e.g. jpg, tiff,...). If, over the last month, you've moved graphic files to a new directory then this will cause problems...
I need to prepare a PDF that contains multiple interactive text boxes (i.e. recepient of PDF will enter some text into several boxes then likely print it out).
Ideally I'd like to design the document in Indesign and - somehow - include blank text boxes that can be completed in PDF format. Is...
thanks guys, comments are very helpful.
i was not aware of the mailings application. i'll trial it. and comments about security are certainly noted. if poss, i'd be delighted to design my newsletters in Indesign as, well, i'm completely comfortable with its functionality.
seems that is does a...
Indesign can vary length of dashes and spaces within strokes.
Check out the bottom area of the Stroke panel...it should have a handful of horizontal boxes...dash gap dash gap dash gap.
try something like dash 10, gap 4, dash 2, gap 4. this will give you the idea and then you can fiddle...
Hi folks
My business needs to start a newsletter.
I use Indesign CS2 for various design work and am curious to know if I could use it for a newsletter to be distributed via email.
I know there are many design&host HTML newsletter services...but I do not really need design nor hosting!
Can...
