this looks like it works as a workaround until emc fixes the issue.

It because the mail is part of a mailthread where the rest of the mails aren't marked for archiving.
If you wanna archive them, mark all the mails in the thread to be archived.
Ok, thats weird, cleaned the tmp directory on the networker server and now it looks like its working.
Really thought I had done this before, but apprantly not.
I get the same error on v7.2.1 server with notes module 3.0
When I run a savegrp against a test group it tells me the retention policy for another instance in another group is wrong.
This retention is set to 60 months, I have tried 5years also same result.
When I set the retention to a quarter...
Hi there
Lotus Notes client 6.5.4, windows xp sp2
one of my users is having this odd problem.
once in a while, and always from home through a vpn connection he gets the error
File Already exists in a pop up box, nothing else, and when he clocks ok, notes shuts down.
after 5-6 time to start...
then you need an os cluster. but that wont give you file redundance.
but microsoft cluster can give you what you need. Just remember you need fairly identical hardware.
And if you can't do that either, you're in a bad spot.
either way, the two servers needs to be able to access the RAID. Even...
Take a look at lotus domino application cluster.
You need twice the disk space, but you won't need to reconfigure your clients, domino will do that.
Also you can set the new server in a state so the only if the other is not availble, clients will connect to the other server in the appliacation...
What version of Notes ?
What OS ?
Hardware ?
What was the uptime of the system ?
I know Domino has a 100 day issue in some versions up to 6.5.4, in which it would forget itself, and there has been other funny stuff like that.
Cause that sounds like some software has taken every rescource...
Is it on a windows box, with change journal enablet ?
I have seen this a few times around here, it would run a full backup, and then day day after run another full, and then run the incrementals. I waved my magic wand, which disabled change journal and Puff, the problem was gone.
Which leads me...
Will that workaround still grab the notes.ini file ?
Anywhere I can see this happening ? I mean I am running a smiliar setup, but I haven't heard about any problems, so I am curious to know if its actually affecting me.
It can be done, but its not really recommended.
But as Pascal says if you only gonna use the client it shouldn't matter much.
Look into an upgrade of your sever to ver 6 too. makes your world a whole lot easier place to live in ;)
You can easily use ver 6 server with ver 5 clients, the other...
What do you mean integrate ?
There is a AD syncronisation tool in Domino 6.5 to syncronise domino and AD users. But I haven't really looked at it much.
We also have an novell edir running and will proberly be using that to syncronise from domino to AD/edir.
Trying to get this to work myself, I found the info, but I can't get it to work with a notes.ini file just containing the configfile= parameter, the notes setup just dies.
but heres a link

Trust the OS in this. If the OS see the disks as full, notes can report all the free space in the world ;)
Make a program document on your notes server to run the compact task on a weekly basis, where you compact all DB's which are under 85% or so, used.
Just make sure you schedule it to run in...
Notes 6.5 has a migration tool, but I found it to be unrealiable at best. It would suddenly quit without error or anything.
I had to remove most of the attachement in the mail file to get it to work
And this was just a single exchange mail box. So don't expect the notes tool to save your day ;)
I don't want my DMZ server to send smtp mail. I want it to recieve mail only and let the internal servers handle all sending mail.
Even though the DMZ servers acts as webmail server, I still want the mail into the internal server and the out to whoever the mail is for !
hi all
I need some help setting up mail routing from my dmz server.
There is no trouble routing internal mail.
But mail sent from the DMZ (webmail) srever to external internet domians need to be routed to our internal servers and then to thier final destinations in the big world.
Security...
Why don't you just leave the tapes where they are, and keep a server handy in case you need to recover the archived data ?
It don't have to be a powerfull machince or anything.
It will save you the whole migration process and make it easy to find again.
