My organisation has been running Domino / Notes R5 for databases and collaboration (no email) for the last few years.

Now, because we're working with a different outsourcer we're being supplied with Notes 6 to allow us to access their emails and intranet.

Will this have any knock on effect on our current Domino / Notes as we're still using R5 for the databases and collaboration?

It should not - unless you start using the R6 Designer on R5 databases.
If you just use the R6 clients, everything should be fine.

Pascal.

sometimes there can be some trouble opening R5 files with R6 client( changing the ods of the file 41--> 43)

The solution to change the ods back is to launch a compact on the serv:

laod compact 'file' - R

It can be done, but its not really recommended.
But as Pascal says if you only gonna use the client it shouldn't matter much.

Look into an upgrade of your sever to ver 6 too. makes your world a whole lot easier place to live in ;)

You can easily use ver 6 server with ver 5 clients, the other way around can be tricky, espcially if people likes to use local replicas.
