I thought this might be a bit of fun. Does anyone recognise this one?

Tim,

count to ten - deep breath - OK. Now, re-read Tracy's (ie: tsdragon) last post - last sentence. I would WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with this sentiment!!! You joined Tek-Tips a little before me, but as far as I'm concerned, you're an 'old-timer'. I appreciated your welcome to 'Squaring the Circle' (especially as so few others did <not at all miffed!>) and enjoy imensely your contributions to discussions (whether or not I join in).

I notice your reference to anagrams which aren't 'handle anagrams' and realise I have posted these. If I've been a catalyst to you feeling excluded, please accept my apologies and allow me to explain. If you look at Thadeus's post of 20th May (11.36) you will see he referred to some anagrams he came up with based on his NAME, not his handle. I took these and played around to come up with the alternatives I posted. Haven't worked out what his name is yet, though (which is what I was trying to do in playing with the letters in the first place)!

(Incidentally, I worked out a quicker way of inlcuding the standard smileys. Just type [ignore][smile][/ignore] and you should get this - [smile] - as long as the Emoticons/Smileys box is ticked before you submit your post.)

All,

The first thought that came to mind was "unbounded gratitude" at the kind and informative tone of your replies.

I was expecting things like "Hey, I just realized that Tim guy is 12!"

There was something about the sequence I read somewhere above that just eluded me completely, combined with some other things I'd previously misread/misunderstood. The sad thing (especially since I think Tracy was involved last time) is that I had said previously I would try to not be so thin-skinned any more. Apparently it needs more work.

Tony - your play with Thadeus's (sic?) anagrams eluded me completely, so the number of letters involved confused me. Sorry. I didn't mean to single anyone out.

Y'all are amazing.

Tim [smile]

(HEY - CHECK OUT THE SMILIE - THANK'S TONY!!!)

Tony - See the anagram for DPlank for a hint

Rgds, Geoff

Well, he's kind of had it in for DPlank ever since he accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son."

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

E&F,
I confess, I did spot it, but out of politeness and decorum felt it was inappropriate for ME to post. Delighted you have though![thumbsup]

It's funny how 'those kinds' of words catch your eye first when playing with anagrams - at least, they do with me anyway!

then again, you may prefer... TEEPEE HIT MR STRUT

In the kitchen: Peel a fry

Outdoors, doing yardwork: Leaf pyre

When I don't want to be bothered: Pray, flee

Me transmitte sursum, Caledoni!

There's a reason I never encouraged anagramming people's names. Laugh.

I much prefer Quad Seer.

As for unfortunate name rearrangements... given that spoonerisms are very closely-related to anagrams, rearranging sounds instead of letters, I see no harm in posting this: I know someone whose name is Sherry Vitt.

I don't think she knows and I'm not going to tell her.

As for my real name, I've never found a satisfactory anagram, either pleasing or insulting. They're all awkward because of the preponderance of Ks in my three names.

Where's the best anagram generator?

Here's a few of what I got for my real name on
cry deny drat
cry dryad net
cry NRA teddy
drear nyc ytd
dry nyc trade
nerd tracy yd
RN racy teddy
racy trend yd
randy rect yd

I'm not that fond of any of them.

Tracy Dryden

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons,
For you are crunchy, and good with mustard. [dragon]

Tracy,
I would have to say the best anagram generator is a person's mind as, no matter how well programmed, a machine can't be intuitive, or think in abstracts. Your name is quite difficult because of the double 'C', double 'Y' and few vowels, but even then you can make a leap of imagination:

Picture the scene: A doctor delivers a baby and the nurse turns to ask:

"Any cry, Dr. Ted?"

or, simply:
Cry at Dryden

or, maybe:
Deny dry cart.

Finally, allowing for a little poetic licence:

Now there's a Dandy T-Cryer! (Town Crier)

I'm not saying these are the best with your letters (they are my best efforts, though!), but they are definitely more palatable than those your anagram generator came up with. [smile]
