I know this isn't quite appropriate for this forum, but the forum owner gave me permission to start the topic as a means to help us get to know each other.

What does your handle mean, and how did that become your 'name'?

Dave,

Thanks for the explanation. Under your plan, I should be your cousin, "Vidhu". Previously, I had thought sure that you were from India ("Vidru"). I was ready to greet you with "Namasté. Ap kaise hai? Maera na'am Davinder Shikari."; but now that you are probably from somewhere non-Indian like Florida or somewhere, I'll just be satisfied to send plain-old Yankee "Greetings."

You got me, Dave. Howdy from sunny, mosquito-plagued Florida. I could have faked some Malayalam if prompted (I've go a coworker from Kerala, India).

BocaBurger is just one of the handles I use.
Currently I work in Boca and am on a low carb diet. :)

He he. Under Vidru's scheme I'd be (drum roll, please) ThyHu. Thy Who. HA!

I'd be AcyDr. Is that even pronouncable?

AyJayEl is boringly simple. Just my initials spelt out!

Tracy,

How about "Acy Doctor" (who sure thinks a lot of his medical abilities).

The best group in the seventies. Not really known outside of Germany and the Benelux area unless you could receive Radio North Sea International.

Ok, my turn. I wanted to be hard to find. Try running a search on my name, and see how many GlenJohnson's there are in the world.

Sorry SantaMufasa and SkipVought, but there is a vast difference between Earth & Fire and Earth, Wind & Fire. The former was the best group in the seventies bar none. [smile]

Hi all,

this thread seems to just run and run! I've been fascinated dipping in and out of your discussions for a few months now (here and in the late, great 'Wordplay' forum) and just want to say thanks - you've sparked off no end of office debates!! I usually seem to come in at the end of your conversations, though, so don't tend to post. Hope you don't mind me 'eavesdropping'.

Back on subject, my name - Anthony (although everyone calls me Tony) - means 'peerless; without a peer' viz Unique, and FD is my job title, Finance Director.

hi, new to this particular group, is it ok for me to post here?
my username is a corruption of a Colin Vearcombe song "Storm Cloud Katherine"
But my first name is lynne!
It describes me very well: a sense of foreboding in the air just before I arrive, spectactular fireworks, a lot of noise, and a trail of destruction in my wake!

Hmmm.

Wish I'd put a bit more thought into it now...

Dave Plank == DPlank

Course I could be Vidpl!! Another cousin !!

Cheers,
Dave

Dave,

Glad you explained...until know, I thought you might have been from Pirate heritage and maybe your first name was "Walker"..."Walker DPlank"?

I don't get "vidp"...Sorry, I need explanation.

another boring handle explanation:

je - first two initials (James Eric)

benson - last name

I always try for JEB, but its usually taken.
