    Micros 3700, 8700 & CISP Compliancy

This is great information (thanks for that). Regarding my identity, I have been in this industry for 15+ years, starting back in the mid-90's writing SIM on a 2700 at the restaurant where I worked during college. I have since written 1000's of lines of SIM for 3700, 8700, 9700 systems...

    Micros 3700, 8700 & CISP Compliancy

It appears that I'm not the only one that has this grave concern. This is a MUST read article about PCI/DSS on these older systems that was released today. http://storefrontbacktalk.com/story/022208shift4 "A PCI security software vendor issued a statement this week that retailers could...

    Micros 3700, 8700 & CISP Compliancy

So does the Shift4 solution use MICROS SIM or a DLL called by SIM at all? Because SIM is just a 3700 simple scripting language that most of us on this board have used to write data somewhere for other reasons. I could see that this approach would likely weaken the security of credit card data...

    Micros WS4 OS ?

The workstation is built for Windows CE only. It will not take an XP image. The Flash Card stores application data. There's a Disk on Chip on the board that contains the WinCE OS. Good Luck.

Micros 3700 .connect / mymicros issue

Make sure you have the right ports open out to the internet, just getting to the internet is no enough. Did you change your firewall or service pack your servers on the same day? Automatic windows updates? There's a port that the mymicros support will give you to verify that the port is truly...

Micros RMC - 9700 HMS update error.

Make sure you are on the latest OS updates from Windows. also look from regedit at : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations and delete any items in there. This is a pending file renaming area that windows uses on reboot. This is where...

    Micros handhelds..

Not doubting it on 3700. We had to upgrade the OS to the latest on the 8846 model, then it started to work.

Using MICROS Hardware with different software

POSWizard - you are incorrect regarding the Software Licenses. Please review this web page: http://www.micros.com/UsedMicrosHardware/ I think you'll find that with most. Hope this helps!

Micros Credit Card Processing and Stored Value Card Processing

The track data cannot be stored (for batching) because of VISA CISP regulations. We just finished our self audit.. It's as painful as pulling teeth, but direct track data is a no-no with this new security in place. Here's the VISA link...

    Micros handhelds..

    I haven't had that problem. I'm on 128bit with WPA? 9700 v3.00

    micros (9700 2.8) sql

The other real good reason it is v3.00 is an open MSSQL or Oracle solution, end to end. I picked MSSQL. It's windows 2k3, all the technology is refreshed. I have web reports now, a it has an "EMC" like an RMC on steroids, that's web deployed, and it was easy to upgrade. I took advantage of...

Micros 9700 long duration database startup?

The most common reason is the antivirus settings are set to read/write in the d:\micros directory (exclude all subs too). Second is the RAID write back cache is note set propery or the battery on the RAID controller is bad. Hope this helps!

Micros 3700 and 9700, How many registers are supported

I'm aware of 9700 installation that has over 500 terminals, 3700 is in the 40+ term range

    Micros 3700 ws4

I've seen power do strange things. Make your rep a deal, you'll pay for the UPS if the problem goes away after they install it. If it's still happens, your not out the money. I have done this before... And it was my power.. A grounding problem.. I paid them too. Hope this helps

Intro to OPOS - program a device for an OPOS POS

yes, you have it correct. Usually the OPOS driver comes with some way to test the device (similar to the test print in the laser example). Once the driver is tested, the POS software will use it by the device's OPOS name. Sorry, I've never coded for OPOS. It's a Microsoft driven...

Intro to OPOS - program a device for an OPOS POS

Each device should have a driver of the target O/S. These are written to the OPOS standard. It's like printer laser printer drivers. The Driver handles the unique-ness of the hardware, the application just needs to know where to print.

    micros (9700 2.8) sql

v3.00 has an end-to-end Oracle or MS-SQL database. In v2.80, you may have a thing called Net viewpoint. That has a MS-SQL DB for reporting.

    micros (9700 2.8) sql

So are you trying to use the 8700SQL command or an ODBC type SQL Query?

    Infogenesis Revelation?

Does anyone use the product on this board? We are about to (in the next 90 days) compare this product against the customer’s existing MICROS 8700 & 9700. Is it easy to maintain? I think it uses MS Access? It seems that they strictly use IBM terminals (I'm not a fan of the service)? The site...
