    Adding switch to existing network

ALright, I found my problem. Franklin was right, socket x1 was shared with the uplink socket. When I put the basement cable into the uplink socket and the computer cable into the x2 socket, it all works fine. Thanks a ton Franklin! ~Jeff~

    Adding switch to existing network

There are no lights for the uplink socket. There are only lights for the x1, x2, x3, x4, and WAN sockets. -When I plug the cable from the basement into the x1 socket I get nothing. -When I plug the cable from the basement into the WAN socket, I get the "Link" light.

    Adding switch to existing network

No, my computer is not connected ot the uplink socket. The cable from the switch in the basement is connected to the uplink socket and the cable from my computer is connected in the regular socket, not the WAN or Uplink sockets.

    Adding switch to existing network

I have a home network, that currently has three computers on it. Two plus a DSL modem in the basement connected to a hub down there, and then one long cable to upstairs, where there is currently one computer connected. I have just built a second computer to be installed upstairs, and figured the...

    Network Problems

I have two desktop and one laptop that are all connected to a hub to form a LAN. They all have shared C drives. but none can connect to each other. When I click on the MSHOME network, all that comes up is themselves. I know they are connected ot the hub correctly, because they can all access the...

    Permissions error? but not!?!?

Man... I don't know why it made that big of a difference, but I changed my computer name from "jeff" to "JEFF" and it works now. Thanks for your speedy help!

    Permissions error? but not!?!?

Thatnks for your quick and coherent repl! I change the settings you recommended, but it did not change anything from the XP Pro side. I have not checked whether I can access this computer from the XP Home ones, but would assume not. Any other ideas I might be able to try?

    Permissions error? but not!?!?

I have three computers running on a home network, all plugged into 1 hub. A laptop and desktop running XP Home, as well as a desktop running XP Pro. The two XP Home computers can see each other and transfer files. However, the XP Pro system is left out in the dark. When it tries to access the...

Yea, I am actually still working on finding a time to connect the toher Power Supply... If this PSU does not work either though, I will most certainly take that aproach. THanks for the advice! I really appreciate it ;-) ~Jeff~

PC won't boot up AT ALL

Alright, I will try an extra PSU, although it is only 300 Watt, but it will work for testing purposes. I can't believe I didn't think of that earlier... But I don't think any of the pins on the CPU would be bent. I put it in the right way and there was no resistance. However I might have...

PC won't boot up AT ALL

Nope, the CPU fan comes on as well as every other fan and light in the case for a split second, but then everthing goes off. I just sent this email to the tech support at the company I bought the PSU from: "I bought a PSU/Case from you guys and just reecently assembled the computer. I think the...

PC won't boot up AT ALL

Well, the heatsink is on coorectly, I just wasn't sure if I damaged it. But now that I think of it, that probably isn't the problem... I has to be a PSU issue or something, because I would at least be able to get to the CMOS if the CPU was damaged, right?

PC won't boot up AT ALL

Yea, I am actually having s imilar problem. I just built a new PC myself, and everything seems to be installed properly, but it won't turn on. I turn on the switch on the back of the PSU, which glows indicateing that tis on. Then I hit the power button on the front of the tower. The lights/fans...

Yea, I already tried that, but they won't budge.... See in the US, the retailers aren't nearly as nice as you Martin :-P

    New GeForce 6800 anyone?

Hahah, yea... All I have left though is the CPU, so I think I am just going to get a 128 Mb model rather than a 256.... :-(. But yea, I didn't plan very well. And the retailler charges a 15% restocking fee which would be almost all the differnce, so thats out of the question. I guess its just...

    New GeForce 6800 anyone?

Anyone around here want an Asus V9999 Gamers edition video card? I just bought one and then realized I don't have enough $ for the rest of my computer parts.... I need to downgrade to finish it. It is brand new and never opened. Its a really sweet card, I just need cash and there no other way to...

    Best Webhosting?

I am looking for hosting as well, but I am lookin more for budget hosting. I need something that costs very little, but has a fair amount of storage/bandwidth. E-mail and other services are not that important. I will just be hosting a personal site most likely.
