I'm having this exact same problem on a Windows 2000 machine I just built. It has the all the latest updates (SP4, Update Rollup, etc.)
I have checked the event view and there was nothing interesting in the Application Log. Does Wise Installer user Windows Installer?
I'm trying to change the System Speed Call list on a Meridian Option 11 and I'm having problems.
In LD 20 I can PRT the first list (00), but if I go into LD 18 I get the following:
REQ CHG
TYPE SCL
LSNO 00
SCH3075
I am able to CHG all other lists except 00 - what am I doing wrong?
Do you have the latest drivers installed from Compaq? I have a regular Sony SDX-700C drive running normally here, but I've noticed Windows Update offering newer drivers.
There could be a conflict with the drivers BackupExec has and what is actually needed by the Compaq drive (they could have...
Exactly Chris... and if your firewall supports it, you could have all your Internet bound traffic routed through a proxy automatically without having to manually configure each client.
I've done this with IP Tables and Squid and it's working perfectly.

I would check the processor. If it were a memory or video card problem, you would hear beeps. If the processor's not working, it doesn't normally beep.

We have the exact same setup here. Our Fileserver is acting as the first DC (as much as that means in Active Directory) and our Exchange server (with 15 users) as the second DC. We also have a SQL server running Solomon (similar to Great Plains).
If your Exchange server were to grow, it would...
If they're not going to be on the same local LAN, I would make sure both of them are Global Catalogs. Go to Active Directory Sites and Services and open the properties of each servers NTDS settings. There will be a checkbox in there for the Global Catalog.

Yes, I found the problem had to do with my single label domain name (no .com or .net, etc.) I was pointed to the follwing KB article - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300684

What I would do is in DNS Manager on your NT 4 box, right click on all the domains you want the 2K server to be a secondary for and choose properties. Then click notify, and add the IP address of the 2K server in the notify list of each domain. That will force NT to update the 2K secondary...
Every once in a while our users are receiving messages on their stations that the IP address they have is in conflict with another device on the network. This can be attributed to a device that was given the address initially, but the lease has since expired and another computer has received...
Client Access Licenses can be set up in two ways - Per Server or Per Seat. Per Server is concurrent connections to the server, ie. you have X CAL's therefore only X connections can be made to that server. Per Seat means you have X devices on the network that might connect to the server you...
I like IPTraf. (http://cebu.mozcom.com/riker/iptraf/) It's not a script, but it shows you all the traffic on an interface in real time. There's a package for Slackware so I'm sure there must be an RPM for RedHat.
Here's something from the DNS Event Viewer that I get on and off:
"DNS server has updated its own host (A) records. In order to ensure that its DS-integrated peer DNS servers are able to replicate with this server, an attempt was made to update them with the new records through dynamic...
I am having a wierd problem with DNS on my network. I have an AD integrated DNS setup on 2 Windows 2003 DCs. All clients are pointing to those DNS servers which use forwarders and the root servers to resolve internet addresses. No clients have troubles joining the domain and otherwise DNS...
I have a similar problem, where I know the MAC address of the device, but nothing else. It is not active on the network either. Can anyone think of a way to find the IP address?
