I am just wondering if this means that if you have 10 CAL, only 10 clients can be hooked up to the server???

The reason I ask is my current SBS license is 10 but there are 17 clients on the network and it doesn't show any problems.

Please help. Thanks.

Client Access Licenses can be set up in two ways - Per Server or Per Seat. Per Server is concurrent connections to the server, ie. you have X CAL's therefore only X connections can be made to that server. Per Seat means you have X devices on the network that might connect to the server you must purchase X CAL's.

Just because there seems to be no problem with more clients than the number of CAL's you have doesn't mean there isn't. I would check Licencing under Control Panel to see how it has been configured on your server and then check the Event Viewer for any LicenseService Errors or Warnings.

My NT has Per Server License. I tried to find some info about it today. Actually the server was already up and running when I started to work with my company and there was no documentation or whatsoever.

I have 17 workstations connected to it and everybody logs on to it everyday. I never get any complains from my user about not to be able to log on.

Anyway I will check my License sevice errors.

Thanks for your input.
