    Also if you don't want to make this change permanent and only need it to log in as Administrator once or periodically, you can press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the "friendly" login prompt you mentioned and it will toggle betwen the two login screens. Hope that made sense.

    Looks like you've accidentally invoked the stripped down version/look of Task Manager. To revert back to normal, double-click on the outside border of the Task Manager Window and your tabs and file options, etc view should return. Double clicking on it again will toggle bck to the other view...

    I forgot to mention how to get there in case you are unfamiliar. Go to Start\Settings\Control Panel From here select "Sounds and Audio Devices". This should open up the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window. This first tab is "Audio". From this tab, click on "Advanced" Good Luck

    I would first check your volume control. I've seen this happen before where I can play a DVD because the volume is up, but when I try to play an audio file, it has no sound because the "Wave" portion is muted. I would check this first to ensure nothing is muted.
