Icons not working

In my Control pannel the add/remove icon does not work.

I can click on it many times and it remains closed.

Can anyone suggest why?

I have run Norton's win doctor but it finds nothing that corrects this problem.

Please help if you can.

Is this a personal PC or a corp networked PC?

Just for clarification(not that it matters alot), is this add/remove for hardware or programs or both?

It is a stand alone PC running XP

Neither are working, but most of the other buttons are working.

This applies to Win 2000, but may be of some relevance:

It might be corrupted IE settings. You might try re-installing Internet Explorer to see if that correts the problem.
