Thanks.. That was the way I was guessing it needed to be done... but its nice to know that it works...we also test in NY at IBM... should be fun.
Thanks again.
Hello,
We have had commvault Galaxy on Windows for about 2 months... we have a disaster recovery test coming up in a couple of months...and we are beginning the preparations. I am able to find documentation for a "hot site" type recovery...but we wont be doing that. Basically we will have a...
We just recently bought/installed Commvault's Galaxy 7.0 SP2. and we had CA Arcserve 11.5 with the NDMP option.
We need to convert the Arcserve tapes to Commvault tapes... Is there a way to read/use a 'foreign' tape with commvault?
Please keep in mind that I very new to this product and have...
We are going to swapping our Backup software from Arcserve to either Symantec Netbackup or Commvault Galaxy. Its imperative that it works well with the Filers and our NetApp VTL. Both have said they do and both are NetApp partners. But I would be curious as to what you use and your...
Thanks for the suggestion... we have already tried SP3 and it caused us considerable pain...had to back it off.
I think I will wait and see if we need it before applying... I already have it downloaded.
Have a Great day!
We are getting a NetApp VTL next week....
It is our first experience with a VTL. I wondered if anyone had some thoughts on best practices or wanted to share their experiences with Arcserve and a VTL.
Thanks
Just to followup... we backed off SP3.. and are running SP2 with several fixes on... We still dont know what happened... it was like the server was doing a slow fall... we got some errors on the tape engine the week before and I applied some fixes... and then we just simply couldnt perform a...
We had to install it as were having tape engine dying problems and our NAS option NDMP jobs failing... we put on all the fixes out there but SP3...but still had issues...so CA asked us to put SP3 on. Took a while to get it as the ftp server kept timing out...but eventually we got it, and put it...
Well... it appears to be fixed...
The problem, we are assuming is that there was a bad date on the library... its the only thing we changed...then bounced everything for the 30th time and all started working.
We have been running multiplexing jobs with our NDMP NAS option jobs for over a...
We have arcserve 11.5 sp2 and the past 4 nights a little after midnight, we would had 3 jobs running; 1 ndmp nas backup backing up a netapp filer snapshot; a multiplexing job that had already completed 4 of its server and was in process of running 3 current multiplexing job; and a job that was...
Thanks... We run IBM servers at home... we are talking with the IBM Disaster Recovery center to see if the cloud in between the server and the tape drives and the Netapp has/had some kind of issue....
Thanks for your response.
Have a Great day!
That is the theory. We have done that successfully at home... however yet to do it at IBM's DR site. Which is why I asked if anyone else was successful in recoverying their NETAPP filers with Arcserve at a DR site... and if so what company do they use?
Thanks for responding.
IBM site does apparently have issues....
We backup several a snap of VOL0 of our NAS and we backup
vol0 of our SAN which includes several SQL database backups.
DR steps are
IBM will have the server setup with Windows 2003 sp1 all the networking is done by them. We...
Is there anyone else using Arcserve to backup there Netapp Filers? We are using Arcserve 11.5 NAS option using NDMP to backup our Netapp NAS3050 on 7.0.3.
This is working well at home.. and we have cut our backup times into a 1/3 of the time it took before using NDMP.. and we have restored many...
We have been conducting Disaster Recovery tests at the IBM disaster recovery center. We have had 4 tests...and Arcserve has been very difficult to get working there...
We are now running Arcserve 11.5 and have a Netapp SAN/NAS system.
I guess my questions are: Do any of you do offsite DR...
