I can't wait to see the reply on this one, that is a great idea, if it'd work. I hope someone can find an answer to that, in the meantime I'll do my best searching to try to find an answer.
Well the first steps would be to install windows 2000, create the domain again, install exchange, install Backup Exec, and then restore from tape overwriting files. That should do it (although i've never acually had to do it myself yet.. knock on wood)
Note, make sure when you reinstall the OS...
I would susspect that this is the twisted methode of a know virus, could likely be " W32.Klez.gen@mm "
here is an excerpt from SARC's web site on Klez:
There have been several reports that, in some cases, if you receive a message that the virus has sent using its own SMTP engine...
When I create one user with an exchange mailbox, an emil address is created nearly immediately, and I can go on to add the rest of the attributes to the users account...
When I create a second accout immideately after te first one, I sometimes have to wait half an hour for a milbox and email...
If you are trying to determine how close you are to the Physical limitations of Exchange Standard editions Database size, use the Windows Explorer result of 7GB.
Defragmenting that Database will likely decrease your Database by about 200MB or more (since you have 260MB of unused space in that...
The OWA client does not have the option to send mail as plain text.
As a workaround, you can define the message format on Exchange 2000. Please perform the following steps:
1> Please make sure that you have installed the latest service pack for Exchange 2000 server.
2> On Exchange server...
ASK your ISP for their outgoing (SMTP) mail server name, and add that name to your Outgoing mail server name field under the Servers page in Outlook. Don't forget however, that most ISP do not require Authentication to send mail throught thier smtp servers like Exchange does, so remove the...
lander215 has hit the nail on the head, that is if you want to also give that user all the old mail.
If you don't need that new user to have the old mail and contacts etc, you just want them to have that email address then simply open the current owners AD account properties, and remove the...
Is your Exchange server also an AD domain controller? Do you have other Domain Controllers in this site?
All the Contact (mail enabled or not) are kept in Active Directory. If you have a second Domain controller, or if your exchange server is not a domain controller itself (which I'd expect...
The POP connecter is made by GFI Mail Essentials
http://www.gfi.com/mes/
the package does a lot of things, including POP3 mail downloading.
Also check out this resource from SlipStick systems.

Sue Mosher has a great list of utilities and...
Unfortunately, OWA cannot handle this. That sure would be nice.
I think what you'll have to do is either "POP" or "IMAP" from OL or OE, or you can use a VPN connection to use Outlook (Direct RPC to exchange) to connect to the mailbox and useing OST (offline Store) work...
Hmm... Good question.
Here's what I would likely do. Connect to your F-BSD mailbox, pop your mail from it to outlook into a PST file. Connect your outlook to the exchange mailbox (not pop) and import the pst into that mailbox.
this is good for a couple mailboxes, but if you have lets say...
Yup, Group Policies are the way to do it....
You would first have to creat organizational units (OU's) for each group and place that groups servers in there. Then you can create a GP for each OU.
Cheers [thumbsup2]
This may not be a viable option, but if you add the domain user account to the local administrators group on thier regular PC, the shutdown option will be available.

OK here's the prob.
A message arrives at the exchange 2000 server sent from outside the server to a single recipient. This recipient account also has the alternate recipients feature turned on, that will send every message to an alternate recipient as well as to the intended mailbox.
This...
Open the the user account in the ADUC MMC snap in. click the exchange advanced tab, then put a check mark in the "hide from address book" check box.
Click apply and your done.
Remember that once you hide the account from the gal you will not be able to resolve that name in any way...
Yep read the link, if you put in the correct fields in the csv, the contact will be mail enabled.
On another note, does anyone know if this utility can delete the existing contacts in active directory, or know of another utility that does this?
Thanks in advance.
