From the standard user's perspective, no... I believe this can be done with the SDK, but it is beyond my skills and experience.
You may want to check the add-on site to see if someone has addressed this.

Have you looked at the KNowledgeBase? This is generally a good place to start. Without some more specific information on how your network is set up and operating system info, etc. it will be tough to diagnose.
Give me some specifics on set up and info and I'll take a whack at it. Are the users...
If I understand the procedure properly, this should create a link to your Excel data that is visible in ACT!. You can also activate Triggers to open Excel when the field is crossed, but I am not sure from re-reading the posting what your desired end result is.
If I had more info, I might get my...
Set it up as an email synch, that does require some action on the users part to apply however, after the inital synch, it goes pretty quick.
There are a couple utilities (www.actadd-ons.com) that will automate the process better as well.

Depends on how the records are set up. If Jane is a second contact in John's record, then all activities would be associated with that record. Since v4.x, groups have been available, you could create a group for each of the companies you have mulitple contacts for and schedule group activities...
Could have to do with how the dB was created. If just an identical copy, the culprit may be same Unique IDs. The best way to create copies for synching is to first create an empty copy of the master dB with dbAdmin as the my record. then merge data from the master dB and create your users from...
One thought to add to the mix; how did you create the database on the laptop? Was it a copy of the one on the server, or did you create an empty copy, then merge the data into the empty one?
Correct answer is the latter as synching will be a problem if the Unique ID is the same on both systems...
Depends on how you plan to deploy. I have 6.0 at home, but remain on 2000 at work. I know they have worked out the nastiest of the issues with 6.0, but the ones who have to rely on synchronization are staying with 6.0. Apparently there is still an issue with synching and Sales Opportunities...
ACT! does this to a limited degree already, you need to set it up according to what fields are likely to be duplicated and you are limited to three selections.
Go to EDIT, DEFINE FIELDS and choose the ADVANCED tab. You will see choices that ACT! looks at to gauge dupes. Just arrange them in the...
I hope they fix it as well, although my continuing use of the program may be limited as it looks like we are upgrading to SalesLogix within the next few months. There are many little holdovers from older versions that are key to the functionality, but nobody understands the code to anymore. I...
To be honest with you, I have avoided printing envelopes from ACT! since version 3 because of related issues. The code for labels, envelopes, etc. is leftover from version 2 and there is no one remaining on the development team that knows what went into it. It has been an acknowledged sore spot...
Another approach is to create the group or subgroup and populate it with one contact (my record?) and open that group. You can then import to that group and remove the initial record later.

What versions of ACT! and Word are you using? Sounds like a driver issue I encountered several years ago in ACT! 3 or 4 and Word95.
It could be as simple as refreshing that driver; up to ACT! 4.x, you could reinstall wordprocessing support independent of the program.
The Word driver is...
ACT! Email as it is in ACT! 5.x was never intended for mass email. How many are you trying to send? If this is something you need to do regularly, I would suggest you look into CoolerEmail (www.cooleremail.com) which has an ACT! link developed by one of the top ACT consultants...
The short answer is do a keyword search for Notes/History using the date format used in the notes. I would suggest that you simply set alarms for each activity, so you don't have to search each time.

Are you sending bulk or individually? That is indeed the slowest search in the database. We have gone to using a service called CoolerEmail (www.cooleremail.com) that has a link to ACT! built by pinpointtools (www.pinpointtools.com).
It allows creation of HTML email newsletters and the like...
I would suggest that you contact Best and ACT! support directly, this is not an issue I am familiar with. The alternative would be to seek an ACT! Certified Consultant (ACC)in your area for advice. If you are going to be supporting ACT! regularly, you may also want to check into the program for...
I forwarded this to the best guy I know and what follows is his response.

Not sure what the person here is asking. The actual attaching of a file to
ACT! can be done via the SDK using the Application object, which could be
automated through Excel with a bit of VBA (Excel macro)...
I am afraid I don't, this is one of the reasons I still run ACT! 5.04 at the office; I was warned early on that one of the outstanding issues with the early releases of ACT! 6 was Outlook compatibility.
Again, sychronization vs. importing may be the key. The way I looked at it on my home...
