The library will handle cleaning for you provided that:-
1) Application cleaning is permanently disabled
2) The absolute correct cartridge is in use and some cleanings remain unused (LTO is particularly sensitive to the wrong cassette for example, but so is DLT, DLT1 and SDLT.)
3) The correct...
Many.....I have no list though, its all in my head and I have been unable to get a firewire connection to work to that part of my anatomy.......
(Joke aside, I know the boxes, if you have specific questions, I can help).
There are various reasons for this FSC, you will need to get STK onsite to fix this problem, but I would recommend junking the whole system personally. It is unsupported, out of date and costs a fortune to keep running.......! If you need conversion advice and help, place your email address in...
That is true to the best of my knowledge. But you might be better off with an STK code installed, if the library will accept it, which I believe it will.
A library and probably drive firmware update is needed. All the codes MUST come from STK....any others will not load, or if they do, your Robot will not see the drives anymore.....ever.....
Sounds like your hardware config is bad, put it in this query for me to look at. General rule, if hardware compression is not disabled in the application, one drive per bus, if disabled and you accept the knock on effects of bus resets, you can have two per bus. >More is just simply dangerous to...
Usually , removing the exceesive tension on the toothed belt on the hand fixes the problem. The hand looses too much effort overcoming its own mechanical problems when the belt is too tight. Do not blame STK, the basic problem is the mount resistance of the drive itself, the drive was designed...
Have you checked even that the adapter is of the correct type, HVD or LVD/SE for example? Is it and the drives seen at boot? How are they all configured, all on one bus? If yes, forget it, especially on Compaq who are notoriously incompatible to STK equipment, ask yourself, why should they be...
Simple answer, reconfig to the same number of drives as you had before, even if the drives don`t exist. The problem is that the library is searching for cells which should be built in when the drives are not installed/configured..... or place the missing cells above the drives if you have...
The previous mail is an excellent answer to your question, I will only add "where does your data reside?" "How quickly can that source supply the data?"
If the answers are less than the total speed of all the drives (IBM Gen 1 drives need upto 40MB/Sec to stream, Gen 2 upto...
What do you get as the answer when you issue the inquiry command, it should look something like this:
QuantumDLT4000 D992Q
of course this also depends on the actual Quantum device you are using, you did not mention the device type....
Whatever device, DLT4000 or DLT7000 V105...
What scsi card are you now using? What one before? Have you checked that the new drive is compatible to the SCSI card? There are so many reasons, that I do not want to sit here all day writing questions, but just changing the drive is probably not enough........also, was the new drive from STK...
If your devices are wide, you will need a wide adaptor, if you want to use two tape units, then disáble hardware compression on the drives and accept that if a bus reset is sent, both drives dissappear.......or buy a converted for each device which is the correct and best but expensive way......
I replied to an earlier request too. The L1 is the media type, it is for the library, not the humans. As far as I know you cannot display the media type.
The L1 is the media type. It is not needed to be displayed. The library uses it to check that the media can be loaded into the drive (or not!)
Your cleaning cassette has another code, this is to tell the library if the cleaning cassette may be used in that LTO drive type (all LTOs are...
You need one 2944 card (3949 HVD cards have two HVD channels!) per drive and each drive terminated correctly.
These drives can each need upto 40MB/Sec with compression, a 2944 (or half a 39´40) tops out at about 35MB/Sec, no matter what the manuals say.....
Keep cables to each a max of 20...
Quantum 3570 drives is not the correct name to be used, I guess you mean DLT7000 drives.
The library concerned only supports STK versions of the DLT4000 & 7000. If the drives are not directly supplied by STK, they will not work. You cannot change drive personalities.
Make sure that you are at...
