On our new L700 I moved the old tapes from a M2500 to the new robot. After a media inventory I noticed the Media ID show 6 characters and the barcode show 8 characters.

Is there a way to make all 8 characters to be displayed in the Media ID column?

Example: Actual Barcode label is: CTS096L1

Media ID BarCode

S096L1 CTS096L1

Thanks

The L1 just stands for LTO type 1 media. True, it is part of the barcode but the column that reports media ID's is only 6 bits in length.

What version of Firmware is on the library?

What backup software are you using?

L700 firmware: Code Version: 3.04.03

Veritas Netbackup (DC) 4.5

thanks

Is NetBackup showing all 8 digits?

The "L1" identifier at the end of the barcode is to let you know that it is LTO Type1 media.

Here is an example after moving the tapes from a M2500 Robot
to the L700 robot.

Actual barcode label on the tape media: CTS096L1

Netbackup displays:

Media ID Barcode

S096L1 CTS096L1

The media ID dropped the two leading character (CT)
Is there a way to get these two leading characters displayed?

thanks

No problem.

The L1 is the media type. It is not needed to be displayed. The library uses it to check that the media can be loaded into the drive (or not!)

Your cleaning cassette has another code, this is to tell the library if the cleaning cassette may be used in that LTO drive type (all LTOs are different!) or not!!!
