i got this message from my sender

You have an mx record that points to an A record of your exchange server. Your firewall allows smtp traffic to your exchange server. If all that is correct can you telnet to your Exchange server on port 25 from inside and outside. Maybe a separate dialup connection to your ISP. As long as you...

I am running exchange2000 and have

Some systems just don't process RTF well. Check to see if the user is using contacts. You can open the contact - right click the address of the contact - properties and uncheck always send in Microsoft RTF. You should also verify this setting on the mail format of the Outlook client to be sure.

Installing Exchange 5.5 on a future W2K DC

One advantage of the using a 2000 server is it is a heck of a lot better than nt 4.0 and Terminal services. AD - The exchange part supports multiple databases, enhanced web access. The Windows part - I would say the structuring of the organization. ( NDS ) The concept of sites and replication...

Installing Exchange 5.5 on a future W2K DC

You can install 5.5 on a 2000 box but this does not sync the 5.5 directory to AD. You can upgrade the 5.5 to 2000 but if you are using a new server I would have prefered a fresh install of Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2000 server. Seeing you now have 5.5 on a 2000 box you can upgrade your pdc to...

Installing Exchange 5.5 on a future W2K DC

If you have a 5.5 server on an nt 4.0 Domain. You could have upgraded the pdc to 2000. Install the new server you mentioned as an DC,GC and DNS. Intall the ADC on this new server to connect to 5.5, replicate the 5.5 directory to AD. Run the forestprep on the new server, install exchange 2000...

Installing Exchange 5.5 for Calender use only in workgroup

You can set up outlook to prompt you for the credentials. When you set up an Outlook profile you will see Microsoft Exchange server, click the properties of the Microsoft Exchange server, advanced and on the bottom for Logon Network Security type choose none. This will bring up a logon box for...

Installing Exchange 5.5 for Calender use only in workgroup

You need a domain, it will not run under local accounts. If you are going to migrate to Exchange 2000, you may want to look at the bigger picture. Instead of thinking about ex 5.5 and user account on an nt4.0 domain and how to migrate them to 2000 as well as the mailboxes you just set up. I...

All Public Folder SMTP mail comes as a POST item.

Depending on the purpose of the public folder, you could set up a resource mailbox to receive the mail.

    NT4 Domain & Exchange 2000?

I don't think so because of the because Exchange 2000 uses the schema and it configurations. You can update your pdc and not your bdc's and still be able to revert back to the 4.0 domain.

Creating Two Aliases for One User

You can create what ever alias you want for the account j.lastname, jim.lastname, james.lastname and it will route to that user. Internally, type it in the to line it will resolve. cntr k should prove this.. Exchange should resolve any alias to a mailbox internally or externally.

    Move Mailbox Wizard hosed

If it worked once I have no idea why it would not work again. Try going to the ADC and Exchange server and turn up the logging.

If you have multiple DC and you make a change to one, you will sometime see a latency when you change group membership. I always change any permissions on the same dc that exchange points to. At least it works now.

    Move Mailbox Wizard hosed

How about the group membership of the account that runs the ADC. I think it was schema admins and enterprise admins.

    Move Mailbox Wizard hosed

Check your group membership. Remove yourself from the exchange domain server group. I added myself to one of these groups and got the same error. If not that one also try enterprise admins.
