I am running exchange2000 and have customers that are sending to people at IBm which uses notes. When the emails are sent some people can open the attachments, but others get ____.dat files. Why do some people see these attachments and others not. There is nothing wrong on my end as people do receive and open and others can't. Why is this happening and what can we do to rectify. Thanks.

I realize it must be on their end as some people receive fine, but was wondering if anyone knew of why this happens with notes servers. I am sure it has something to do with rich text that we have our exchange setup for and they use plain text. Thanks

Some systems just don't process RTF well. Check to see if the user is using contacts. You can open the contact - right click the address of the contact - properties and uncheck always send in Microsoft RTF. You should also verify this setting on the mail format of the Outlook client to be sure.
