Uh, I beg to differ. The Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro that I'm running now blows the doors off of the Ti-4200 128mb card it replaced. Much better visual quality, Directx 9 support and it doesn't take so much of a hit when using anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering. I love it.
You could try removing and reseating your video card and memory. Also just because you have umpteen fans doesn't mean your processor heatsink is cooling properly. What's your CPU temp.? There should be a PC health or something like that page in your BIOS.
Just changing the processor should cause no problems because all new parameters should be set on the BIOS level. Changing the motherboard to one with a different chipset is a whole other story.
When setting up for dual booting you must install the older operating system first. In your case windows98. I myself ran fdisk and split my 40gb HD in half. You can either enter a size or a percentage. I then installed win ME on the first partition (C). Then while booting from the winXP cd it...
Is your power supply of sufficient size? 300 watts for an Athlon. Early Thunderbirds ran hotter to the larger die size. That seems in range. Are all your add-in cards seated properly? Do you have proper air flow through the case itself? Do you have up to date sound and video drivers?
You are correct, sir! Some PCI devices could possibly cause instability at the higher bus speed. If instability arises try removing PCI devices one at a time to find the offending hardware.
I don't know about the bsod problems you all have been having but here's my sequence of events. Put together a system with: MSI K7T Pro2-A motherboard
256mb VC133 cas2 ram
Visiontek Geforce3-Ti200
56X cd-rom
Ricoh 6/4/24 cdrw...
Make sure the card is seated properly. Check your agp aperture size in bios. Does your motherboard support agp4x? I don't know if the GeForce3 will work in an agp2x slot.
PaperPort Deluxe ver.8.0 does everything for me. It lets you scan directly to other applications such as photo editing and e-mail programs. Of course it also has all options for adjusting scanned images.
