    Dirty data cleanup in Excel.

    I’ve got an Excel issue and I’m a bit over my head with it. I could really use a hand. I’ve got a text file with 15,000+ records that I need to pull into Excel. The file contains names, phone numbers & addresses and is space delimited. Some of the records have Mr. or Mrs before the name...

    Add characters to a filename.

    Thanks for your help. You guys rock! I'm trying to do this on a Windows system (That's where the files are created). Chris, I've been playing around for a what to split the file name but had no clue how to do it. You've made my life MUCH easier. When the script runs, it generates a list with...

    Add characters to a filename.

    Hi, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I need to add characters to the file name of all the files in a given directory. At the start the files are named: ABC-1105-01.pdf,ABC-1105-02.pdf ... I need to change them to: ABC-1105-(01).pdf,ABC-1105-(02).pdf ... I don't even...

    Bad File Descriptor using NET::ftp

    As it turns out, the issue had nothing to do with PERL after all. I was running the script from within a VM. Once I moved it off the VM to a regular system, It worked fine. Peter.

    Bad File Descriptor using NET::ftp

    Max1x, I had already tried that. The does variable print the correct file name, but NET::ftp still fails with a "Bad file descriptor" error. I can complete the transfer by hand without trouble. What am I missing? Peter.

    Bad File Descriptor using NET::ftp

    Hi, I'm playing around with NET::ftp, and I've run into a problem. I'm trying to write a script that will automatically FTP files to a remote server. Here's what I've tried: &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& use Net::FTP; my $host = "XXX.XX.XXX.XX"; my $username =...

    Use PERL to update part of a file.

    Thanks for the reply Kevin, It looks like NET::ftp will make it easier for me to do this. Now I've just got to figure out NET::ftp ;) Peter.

    Use PERL to update part of a file.

    Hi, I’m using PERL to automate the uploading of files to a server using FTP. What I need to do is modify a line in a text file to update the name of the target folder by adding today’s date to the folder name. I can generate the correct folder name, but I’ve had no luck updating the contents...

    Help finding tomorrow today.

    You are correct, I need to find a file with tomorrows date in it's file name, rename it ant then FTP it to a web server. At one time, I did switch to using GMT, but using GMT won't allow me to run the script early enough in the day. The person responsible for generating this file has a bad...

    Help finding tomorrow today.

    Several years ago, I wrote a script that looks for a file with today’s date, renames it and then FTP’s the file to a web server. It then checks to see if the transfer succeeded and sends out an e-mail to let me know if the file made it or not. I had scheduled the script to run at 12:10 a.m. Now...

    Forward calls to mailbox on dummy ACD queue.

    I did some testing this morning and found you're exactly right. You get the mail for the DN you're calling. So I guess the best (Only?) option is to change the message. Thanks. Peter.

    Forward calls to mailbox on dummy ACD queue.

    Thanks for the reply's. I've checked with the rep, and she'd be happy just to be able to forward her line go to an announcement, rather than mail. She actually want's to be able to change the message callers hear, rather than redirect her mail. I know she can re-record the message, but she'd...

    Forward calls to mailbox on dummy ACD queue.

    Our office uses MeridianMail 13 on an Option 11. One of our sales reps needs to be able to occasionally forward her phone (EXT 1666) to a voice mail box (ext 1555) that has been setup on a dummy ACD queue. Essentially, she needs to be able to pick which mailbox her calls will be sent to. When...

    Dial up connection sharing and DHCP on home network

    I had thought of restricting the range of IP addresses the main system can assign, but I can't find where I would do this. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. PC

    Dial up connection sharing and DHCP on home network

    Hi, I’m running a small home network that is a mix of XP Professional and Home systems. I have a D-Link 624 wireless router attached, but since I live in an area where broadband isn’t available it’s used for wireless access only. I use XP’s built in internet connection sharing to share a dial...

    Have a call roll from one line to another + voice mail

    John, Thanks for the reply. Line 1002 doesn't appear as the main line on any set, it's a secondary line on a couple of sets. Would this change the programing? Thank you. Peter.
