restarting the db update service should do the same thing, make sure your aim is good because if you restart the database service or the distributed service manager server you will likely need to reboot the server
or just write a batch file that you can run from the desktop that restarts the service
sure, here's a powershell script I wrote a while back. the smtp stuff at the bottom is depreciated but is still functional as of this post. it may break in the future. we've been using google's smtp server, if you use their smtp server as well you'll need to use an app password for $Password and...

honestly sql is pretty easy to figure out, there's a database schema report you can generate in autosequences and reports that gives you a list of all of the tables and columns that are in the micros db
not gonna write the code for you for free but here's a tip...
thanks, I'll add those two to the op as well. the tool that I linked seems like it only works to block device driver updates. I've found another potential way to block updates, and will be testing it out this weekend.
the mTablets from Oracle totally suck, when a merchant asks us about tablets, we recommend touch dynamic tablets, specifically these: https://www.touchdynamic.com/products/mobile-pos-tablets/quest-viii-industrial-tablet/, it uses the same cal loader as a workstation 6
using them for pay at the...
There have been various Windows Updates recently for Windows 10 that have totally broken Database Manager, these updates seem to vary and I'm not entirely sure why. These updates look like they are causing issues with all versions of Micros 3700, as long as the server is running Windows 10. This...
I ran into this error again today, while frantically searching for more info again, I stumbled across this thread: thread693-1810955
I reinstalled the MDS HTTP Service on the workstation after finding that the MDS HTTP Service was not running, and that I could not start it manually. After...
I keep running into an issue with running CAL on WS6s and connecting them to a server running Micros 3700 5.7.6 or higher. It goes through the CAL process properly, but once Appstarter loads, it gets past "Wait for MDS Hosts," stops on "Client Trust Utility" and displays the "Unable to connect...
I've seen this on a few different servers and I have no clue what's causing it. Alongside the standard 3700d.log file, there will also be a file named 3700dLocal1.xml that looks like it's getting most of the log file updates. As an example, I just rotated the log and now I'm currently looking at...
I'm only seeing this on one location now, I was able to resolve it on the other server by rerunning the installer for the specific patch they're on, as well as repairing the Micros install.
The location still having issues is on 5.5 MR7, I attempted running the patch installer here as well, this...
I tried to take a look at some logs on a new server today, and the 3700d log is being split up somehow. There's the standard 3700d.log file, but there's also a 3700dLocal1.XML file, sometimes there's a 3700dLocal2.XML as well. I'm not sure how or why it's doing this. Not much information is...
A few of our customers have been seeing frequent issues with generating reports recently, and they all look to have the same problem. During eod procedures, both the autosequence server and remoting services will stop. Every time it does this, it generates a specific pattern of events in event...
used to know another person with the username "dj mad matt" from an incredibly unrelated community like 10-15 years ago, looks like it's just a coincidence :P
isn't 5.6.x still deadlocked? I've heard that you can't upgrade to another main release from 5.6.x, but I'm also not 100% sure that's correct.
also as an aside, are you the itg mad matt?
small world, greetings from BMP!
thanks all, we've put one or two customers on 5.7 and there haven't been really any issues. now comes the rush to get everyone up to speed for that stupid 2021 bug.
We're currently putting our customers on 5.5 MR 3, as we were advised by a few Micros vendors (as well as this forum) to not go with 5.6. I saw a site today that's currently running 5.7 MR5, and I know that 5.7 came out some time last summer, so I'm curious if Oracle's been actually putting in...
the DB is encrypted, so even if they were using GSS, you're out of luck. if you can attempt to connect to the database using Interactive SQL, you can using the various default usernames and their corresponding passwords.
A number of customers recently have been requesting sweeping price changes, I know there's a way to edit prices using SQL but I'm not sure how to do so.
I've figured out how to select specific menu items based on conditionals, but I don't know how to format the UPDATE needed to increase prices...
I swear I had this downloaded somewhere, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. if someone could shoot me over the decrypt tool to contrapaasso@gmail.com, that'd be great, thanks.
