This error is refering to the Message Transfer Agent. Normally if you see this error and your users are not beating down your door- because messages aren't getting thru it's because a mailbox or email mailbox is full, not fully configured or initialized when pinged by the MTA. It can also occur...
My bad- I was clear as mud! Unless I read something else into Wolfpack's question, the CLID info is working and I'm sure only after the 2nd ring- but the call info isn't displayed on the set the call is transfered to-- which you can get around by useing F 811 (Call Info) on the set the call is...
Curly's right- It normally takes 2 rings. Unless you are useing a NAM with 4.1 you have no option- One thing you can do is program a 'Memory' button with "INFO" Feature 811. This will show the incomming call's info after being transfered. It's not ideal, but it will get you there. (another...
Just a shot in the dark but these messages don't sound like the canned Nortel AA. Is it possable the recordings are from the CO / T1 provider? A VM at the CO picking up befor the Call Pilot has the chance to. Is the porvider at this location AT&T? Sounds like an old SBC VM recording.
I've had the same issue with alarm control panels in banks. There's no easy fix here! Nortel suggests "Ferrite Beads" around the power cord- who are they kidding?
Have their electrician install a "Dedicated Isolated Ground circut" and IG recepticle for the 616. Without a dedicated IG your...
If you follow Curly's instructions it will- just make sure you set the Call Forward in system programing/"terminals and sets" and then "Capabilities" to forward to the VM port, then set the # of rings. Find the VM port # by entering F985.
Silver987's idea should work. The reseller's idea was only partially correct. If you drain the cap in the nvram you will also have to remove the CMOS battery from the MICS backplane/mother board and drain all of the caps (about 18 total) to wipe the memory from the processor. This will work...
Trying to get Mountainbear's attention be for he took some bad advise- someone sugested he unplug the 8x24 and plug it back in. That would erase all info in the Call Log buffer. His customer is a Law Office which relies on the call log for billing. He could have retrieved the partial call log...
Sounds like they are useing an SMDR and a serial printer for a Call Log. If this is the case, F9*2 is SMDR ADMIN.
Feature 900 enter account # (can be 1 to 12 digits) so its possable this memory button was set up for
968 (9 and 68 as the account #) If the SMDR is INOP you will get "inactive...
In reply to your post 5-23, you are correct, there is no feature 968. The feature you want is F*9 which is "RUN/STOP".
I am makeing an assumption that No. 1- the sets are M73XX and No. 2 have memory buttons that are misslabled as F968 instead of F986. The original installer just used this...
Could you be talking about call "Held Reminder" after a call has been put on hold you get the reminder tone every 15,30,45 or 60 seconds. Just takeing a shot in the dark.
If they are entering F986 and are getting "Inactive Feature" you may find the VM (Flash or what ever it might be) could be INOP for any number of reasons. If you do a F9*1 or even a F983 and get 'Inactive Feature' you will know where to look.
I'm with Curly on that. You want your caller to get thru your VM as quickly as possable not only for their conveinience but to free up the line for your company. VM is an efecient company tool- but ONLY when used properly.
You may want to set up a CCR tree with an "information" mail box with a specific path - (IE.) "press 3 for individual extention/names and or departments" if you don't want the caller to go thru the directory. You can also set up an info mail box without a ccr tree but the company greeting will...

My bad- not a personal post. This tech is probably the best Nortel software Guru for unpublished/undocumented "work-arounds" on the west coast. Sorry folks!!
