Thanks for the link gargouille, looks as though IE6 is the common problem here, interestingly both freecell and IE6 work fine on my machine and it is a much lower spec than the ones that are suffering.
What chance do we stand of getting third party software to work in a microsoft environment...
I have suddenly had two machines in with the same problem - on running freecell the game will display as far as the plain green background, as soon as 'new game' is selected, the game window turns white - no game!! The window can be closed and the machines are not otherwise effected, the game...
Interesting this, why waste a DDR processor on this mobo, to get full advantage of it one of the best budget solutions is the Elite K7S5A at least you can add DDR ram!! - Check it out on Toms Hardware guide.
The good news is it runs on the same chipset as the 810, so the existing hard drive...
I agree with edfair with his general advice, however in this case the K7S5A is jumperless and configured via bios, are you using SDR or DDR Ram? if SDR then this could be your problem, the latest K7S5A you are using may have a different bios release to your older one. This motherboard is known...
Well my friend there is your problem, you are overlaoding your power pack you should have a minimum of 300W power supply for this processor, take a look at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_869_4348^4358,00.html
The AMD website for details of processor and required...
Is this the same system as you are having problems with the CDrom?
If so it does indeed look as though you have a power supply problem, what is you system spec and power supply rating (Watts).
We have built several XP based systems with this board (and others) which use the onboard Cmedia sound chipset, we have only ever used the drivers supplied on the motherboard CD and have not experienced any problems, what symptoms are you getting?
Don't rule out a faulty motherboard........
Spot on cdogg I have met many people who have upgraded to larger monitors (up to 21") only to be horrified at the effect it has had on their gaming, turning a smooth role playing game into jerky and unplayable, they have then had to upgrade their graphics card to suit!!
A large screen does...
I agree with mainegeek the problem on machine 1 is most likely to be Power management in BIOS.
With Machine 2 what are your system resouces running at?
The power pack at 250W is under rated for this mobo I expect that you are installing a processor over 1Gb.
Also check the processor and ram are fully inserted in their respective sockets.
I suspect your problems lie with the version of Fdisk you are using there is also a similar issue with Format, if you visit the microsoft site you can download updated versions of both these files.
Hope this helps
I agree with Stark the power supply is the most likely cause - not all power supplies are created equal, take a look at the AMD website at their recommended power supplies, if you decide to replace it I would go for a 400 - 450W that will allow more headroom for upgrading later, you only want to...
Still stuck?
Try disconnecting Both the IDE leads and floppy drive lead from the motherboard then boot the machine.
If you still don't get any further suspect the Ram, its interesting though that you seem to be getting a post beep.
You could also remove any boards which you don't need at boot...
Hi just been looking at this thread, I agree with all the statements concerning DDR Ram, this board is VERY fussy about SDR. Secondly ensure that your processor/memory speeds are correctly set (100/100) for your combination. Thirdly have you tried running DXDIAG and working through the various...
Assuming that the souncard is original fitment, go to the support section in dell.com and download the drivers from there.
If however you have an aftermarket card you will have to identify it and then try on of the many driver sites (drivers.com)
Have just had the same problem myself, I couldn't beleive that toshiba are so unhelpful, as rwise2112 suggested most hard drive manufacturers offer a drive manager - but not toshiba!!
However if you download ezdrive9 it is not locked to a particular drive brand and will cure your problem.
If you...
We build plenty of systems with the same spec as yours and experience very few problems, before you ditch the board check the Ram, there's some suspect stuff around.
