Freecell not displaying game!!

I have suddenly had two machines in with the same problem - on running freecell the game will display as far as the plain green background, as soon as 'new game' is selected, the game window turns white - no game!! The window can be closed and the machines are not otherwise effected, the game and respective video drivers have been reloaded with no effect. Both machines are of completely different specification and ownership - the only comminality is Win98 se - any thoughts??

If it was d/l from the Internet, was there a time limit on how long the game could be played without buying it(30 days, etc.)?

Was any new software or hardware installed immediately prior to the problem happening?

Did you check for a virus?

Did you uninstall the game in Add/Remove Programs?

A variety of causes may be attributable...including IE6.

Thanks for the link gargouille, looks as though IE6 is the common problem here, interestingly both freecell and IE6 work fine on my machine and it is a much lower spec than the ones that are suffering.
What chance do we stand of getting third party software to work in a microsoft environment when it cannot make its own compatible!!!

Had same problem when I loaded Win 98 on new system. Fix: Loaded the appropriate Mouse Driver (Logitech) Had been using MS Win 98 PS/2 default
