    Ken, I know you know this, but you might double check to make sure that on in the VMSC > PBX > Outcalling tab that it's set to mulaw - I just ran into this - drove myself nuts troubleshooting only to find out I forgot to change it from alaw.

    MAS & MSS not communicating

    If the MAS lost connectivity with the MSS, it should have continued to process calls and spool any messages that were left. You are saying that it was not and reboot the MSS corrected that problem. Sounds like there was something else going on.
